The point of view of a story refers to how it is being narrated. There are three points of view: first, second, and third person. The first and second person point of views involve the story being told from the view of a single character; the writing includes their unique observations and interpretation of what is going on in the story, as well as their internal thoughts and feelings. The first and second person point of views are almost always biased, as they are based on the opinions of a sole character. This is not to say that the third person point of view is always impartial to the story. While the narrator in third person does not partake in the plot itself, their outlook on the story can be interpreted through the style of narration. For instance, the narrator of the story may make comments on the situation: "The trio had gotten themselves into a sticky situation," or, "This was not one of his brightest ideas." The way a story is narrated can be influenced by the author's opinions and style of writing.
