I choose to photograph my family and friends because they are the closest to me. I decided to have black and white on the photographs that expressed the different expressions that people usually express to their friends and family while having the colored images display the expressions that people usually see. Everyone poses or smiles for a photograph which is easy to capture, while the black and white images display a more intimate feeling because the expressions are something that only close people will. It is difficult to capture an intimate expression because the person must not know that the picture is taken since it can take away the feeling. I decided to photograph my close friends and family/pets because they are the ones who can support you and have your back in tough times. 
Right now we are all going through tough times because of COVID-19 and having to isolate or quarantine in order to stay safe and protect the people we care about. Family and friends give a sense of home and security which can bring us happiness despite the hardships we may face during difficult times. This year we have faced many hardships and it is hard to stay positive amidst everything happening around the world but knowing we have our friends and family support can brighten things.
This course has allowed me to learn new techniques that helped me portray my message across photographs which can have also had an impact. I would have liked to have taken more pictures of different places/things but it would have been difficult because of the times.
