I love and find all the ideas that appear in the video very appropiate.
I think it is a good way for what we want to achieve.
In schools we can yake smalll steps involving children in the caare of the school garden or other similar actions, involving all those close to it and introducing he environmental perspective in all elements of the curriculum.

I like the initiatives in both resources and the one I like the most is studying the electricity bill of the school and also of each of the participants home. Checking where that energy comes from and how to reduce it. This task can be into different subjects curriculum such as Science, Technology, Maths, Geography... and in fact it is a part of it. We could focus the topic around what type of energy generation we could use to make the school or our homes sustainable and friendly with the environment.

I enjoy iniciatives like the ones mentioned in the video. In my school we have already begun to control the electricity bill with our students. Also, there was a reduction of water in the toilets because of a device that we colocated in the water closet itself.
In very strategical places one can find bins to collect garbage, plastic and also electronical devices. These things are weekly collected by the Town Hall and there is a prize for the schools which embrace this activity with enthusiasm standing out because of the amount of things they collected. Even though we are an eco-friendly school, there are things in the video that we have never approached: the idea of growing a greenhouse with fragant herbs or even vegetables.
I do like this idea.

Hi,

Some very good initiatives to start up. As my peer Zoraida said, we can easily involve first ages children into the project thanks to animals or environment (nature). Kids have a natural care for animals and nature so why not use it in this circumstance? An idea, could be discover the animals that live closed to the school and their natural environment. Challenges: we have to adapt the curricula to make it more flexible. We need time and find activities for each subjects and involve all the teachers in the project. It’s got to been a school project. It’s impossible to walk alone in this case.

I liked all the initiatives and resources. Many can be replicated in schools. At my school, in the Project Area discipline, students did a survey on electricity costs, and concluded that the school could save about half of the energy. Then they studied the installation of solar panels and showed that the school could support itself in energy costs.

I think the activities presented are very interesting and can easily be used in schools, both in simpler projects with younger students as well as with secondary school students in more ambitious projects. One of my school's biggest concerns is in addition to reducing the use of plastic, is the access to good quality drinking water. We are in a part of the Portuguese territory where periods of drought are already a reality and the sustainable use of water is an objective and a concern.

There are a few ideas we already implement, however, the methods inspire us to to do more

An innovative educational approach should be adopted to have an audience that will understand, address, mitigate, and adapt to the impacts of climate change; this innovative approach has to be one that captures the students' interest and involve them actively. They have to be the leaders of such an approach. INn our school there are various ongoing activities but the very recent one is an Erasmus project that will address this problem; it is aimed that students will research ideas and practices to reduce the impact of climate change. Such ideas will be presented at the end to the leaders of the countries, bringing everybody on board.

Many of the ideas mentioned in the video and guide are applicable to schools. It is a very good idea to rearrange vision, mission and values, especially in terms of reflecting schools' understanding of climate action. We will definitely add that to our strategic planning in the coming year. Cinema day workshops that can be held with parents at school and then brainstorming with solution suggestions will be helpful. A garden can be arranged in the school garden, where children can plant vegetables. In short, all the ideas mentioned are feasible.

Lots of great ideas are presented in the guide. As there is a group in my school that deals with the sustainable development of GLOBe sections, I don't think it will be a problem to find ideas for implementing the topic of sustainable development. They work on one project every year. The project is selected at the beginning of the year based on a survey. The priority is mostly related to the preservation of our sea because our environment is such that we have to think about the sustainability of the cleanliness of the sea and the coast.

The ideas provided are very interesting. Most of them could be implemented at my school cluster.
The most important and also challenging is the whole-school approach. To carry our effective ESD it can't be a project of one teacher and one class. It has to be a school project, or even a community project or an European project involving a variety of schools/communities. Whole-school approach is fundamental and the best way to involve people is to empower them, giving each and everyone a relevant role. All stakeholders need to feel they are responsible in the successful implementation of the project.

According to the video, these are the steps we should follow in order to start a project related to the environmental crisis. What would I do to stick these strategies to the school reality?

1. Take small steps.
Choose one of the problems your school has in relation to pollution. What is your objective? What do you want to change?
2. Formalise it
Analyse the situation doing research, using data and putting it in a graphic.
3. Engage people.
Communicate your project to families. Engage them.
4. Develop the curriculum.
Interdisciplinary. relate your project to each subject. Analyse your project from each point of view.
5. Develop external relationships.
Engage the townhall, local organizations, neighobourhood.
6. Devise a strategy.

I think many of the ideas are easy to carry out, lie the small garden, recycling activities, healthy food at the school shop...but they are only going to be succesful if we engage a lot of people and if especially adults show enthusiasm about it. I also consider that, as the video says, formalising those activities or the action plan is also extremely important to make it work. Talking about my subject, English language, we can work climate change vocabulary and improve their communicative skills to help them convince more people about the importance of teaching climate change at schools, we could for example, make an exchange activity with a foreign school.

When suggesting new systems it is best to do as much research ahead of time. Often management does not want changes that are large and (to them) cost too much. So keeping the first thing in mind-Make small changes-is important. We are currently trying to implement filmy plastic recycling as there is a location nearby that is sponsoring it. Unfortunately our limiting factor is space-where do you put the container to collect these film plastics? Also, the person who works in the location, it's not that she is against the idea, it just means she must change to add more to her routine. There are a couple of us working on this with her. First we introduced the idea, and like many people, when overwhelmed, she balked. We let it rest for a month and gently brought it up again, asking for her input, assuring her we would support her, etc. In this way, we are slowly introducing changes that are better for the environment. It is a slow process, but once certain people are won over, they are often the biggest supporters.

As a simple English teacher,I can do many things in my English classes like reading and discussing about different graphs,talking about different global and local issues,making comic or photograph contests,writing stories ,comics and poems,litening to differents songs,create sketches....My students can learn a lot of interesting things but maybe can be forgotten too early while if the activities are shared in big groups or even with all the students of the school ,the action will keep in their memories for a long time.This is what I feel.

Very interesting ideas and a great guide to follow in our schools. I really like the point of view of Ecological and what else? Do not stay always with the concepts or ideas we already know, but go further into different areas such us healthy nutrition, sports, local development, ethos...Through them, our students could modify their daily habits easily. It will be fantastic if our students could have fresh fruit for lunch or any other healthy products, even better if some of them could come from our vegetable school garden and if is not possible, from local stores that would be also included in the project. Another thing I think it would be great is that they could manufacture their own package for their lunch in order to avoid one-use wrapper.

All the ideas are very interesting, however, when the ideas come from the teacher's suggestions and not from the students, the students do not take them as their own and their involvement is usually lower. I suggest the formation of "Eco patrols" to conduct surveys about what exists in the school that is a friend or an enemy of the environment. After these surveys, students decide on lines of action to make the school more environmentally friendly. Of course the topic should reach all subject areas, but all of us know that sometimes it could be a very difficult task.

I also agree with the idea that the most accurate way to learn about this issue is by putting it into practise. Doubtlessly, sustainable development should be put on the focus within education. Also, I consider as a very important point the fact of engaging people; we need a collective effort to make a positive impact on things. So, a coordinated action between students, parents, colleges and so on is without a doubt needed. Moreover, external relationships are also hugely needed. External institutions, organizations and obviously other schools are completely necessary as the only way to learn and share knowledge and ideas is by taking into account others’ points of view and considerations.

I can use a lot of their ideas. We have a sustainable group in the school. We have tried to integrate all sector in the community (teachers, direction, students , bedeles and so on). We have prepared interdisciplinaire activities (consumption of water in maths, making sand clocks with plastic bottles in arts, increasing our recycle habits with new containers for batteries, CDs, old phones, pens an so on). We have to improve implicating the families in our projects and others subjects for doing a real collaborative work and developing our students critical thoughts.

All of the ideas are very interesting. The ones that seem to fit the most within my context and age groups are the interview and the Daily Mile (ecoroad group). I work in a rather small village, yet most of the students come to the school by car. If we had the opportunity to take part in a project with other schools all over Europe, we could ask one another about the different ways to go to school. Which ones are more environmentally-friendly? Do the students reckon they can change their means of transport? Apart from that, running or jogging a mile once a day would definitely help them get fitter and socialize with children and staff in all the school.
Some of the challenges I might encounter are families being reluctant to make any changes to the way they come to school...

The ideas are simple but fundamental. Small steps, well organized, that grow with good foundations are the best.

I already use some of these ideas in the daily life of my classes. I have an idea, I put it on paper, I make a plan, I create a team, we draw up a plan and, in time, we extend its scope of action to other schools and, possibly, to other cities or countries. And in the process, I always try to learn more. That's why I'm here.

I find the ideas in the video applicable in my school - I have always tried to follow the curriculum, but in a way that allows me the freedom to apply my ideas.
I am not an idealist and I know that classroom work does not cover all students.
I have always thought that it is important to be able to help at least one, and he to help another, and so a chain reaction occurs.
Our job is to build self-awareness about the environment, but if it is limited and does not reach all stakeholders, then it is doomed.

In my view all ideas are extremely interesting and helpful.I was particularly impressed by the idea of establishing a student committee,involving colleagues,parents and lthe ocal community as well as developing external connections with other schools to stay motivated. I especially liked the concept of Climate Action Team to coordinate the school's climate work.
As for my school, maintaining a garden at school and at home to promote local herbs and compost is a nice way to keep students engaged in and out of class.Securing administrative approval is a challenge and looking after the garden during vacations is an issue.However, volunteer labor by parents and students when necessary, is a great way to overcome the problem and I'm sure the harvest will compensate the hardworking crew!

Some of the ideas that I’ve found interesting are: to formalise whatever your project/idea is (so it is not a one year/one subject thing) in order to become a more sustainable climate-friendly school, to engage students and community so they have their voice, sharing ideas with other teachers and moreover, in my opinion, it will always be good the development of external relationships because it motivates students greatly.

I think all the ideas are very interesting. However, some of them may be difficult to accomplish in different contexts. As for my students and their environment, I think that a project involving other foreign schools would be very useful and enriching. Individually, I rather like the idea of writing poems of short messages from given images about the environment; its beauty or its degradation.

As for the foreseeable problems, I believe that the worst would be the paperwork that teachers and the center have to deal with. It would be tiresome and it would take some time to put it in practice.

There are many good ideas, but two of them I could well imagine at our school: There used to be a school garden at our school and we should revive the idea of growing our own vegetables. Some students have lost the connection to where their food comes from. It comes from plastic packages in supermarkets. A school garden might give them a feeling for the connection of food and nature and agriculture. The second idea would be an initiative how to avoid rubbish and especially plastic rubbish. There are plastic free shops, reusable packaging, non-plastic packaging, ways of recycling and so on. Students just have to get to know about the choices that you make when you go shopping.

It is true that the six points covered and suggested in the video provide useful ideas to create a school culture for sustainability. The first thing to bear in mind is to revise and check the damage made to nature and once we have that overview, it is time to take actions against it.
As my counterpart from Portugal says "The biggest challenge is to create a cohesive team with a strong sustainable environmental ambition". I think that all the tips and ideas in the video and in the guide are useful and provide the means to change school structures into more sustainable and climate-friendly centres. However, as it is said in the video, it is necessary to take little steps at the beginning. From a teacher's perspective, there are two main aspects that I consider have the priority.
The first one has to do with individuals. In a foreign language (English) class, the development of the communicative and critical skills in a second language are central introducing information about the climate change and sustainability. There are some specific tips and comments in the guide that I welcome because they strengthen my intuitions on how to make students sensitive towards these issues.
The second one has to do with the creation of networks of teachers of different subjects to develop particular projects. Active and cooperative learning can provide the methodological framework. The knowledge of English and other foreign languages should play an important role in all the tasks that involve searching for relevant information and the writing or translating of texts. Once these networks have been created, it will be the time to start with more ambitious structural innovations.

I'd definitely use most of the ideas and plan in the guideline of Getting Climate Ready. I will use this sustainability plan in all my projects. What I will apply is to set up a project team made up not only with students but also with teachers, parents, office workers, janitors and the community after we set renew the school vision and mission. After conducting surveys of what we have and we know about climate change, we will discuss the steps of the action plan altogether. The only challenge can be the costs of some activities. For this we can ask for help from environmental organizations and collect money from volunteer parents to implement some activities like renewing the energy facilities of the school, buying water saving taps, led bulbs etc.

However, the problem is that women are suffering from the violence, so their husbands or other interlocutors should have been invited). There is nothing new. When I was younger, in the Curricula there were Agricultural Education and students had a garden at school and they were taught methods to grow plants and flower. They worked in that garden three hours a week. After 2000 these classes were changed with others. Now passionate teachers encourage students to create gardens in the school premises, or to take care of the park they play in. The ideas presented are simple but very efficient and a good way to start.

To get students engaged in an interesting project, the first step must be to raise awareness. In my foreign language classes we carry it out through informative texts and videos, which provide data and examples of what's being done in other parts of the planet. Then we could start by getting all the school staff's committment to switch off the lights when they are not necessary, control heating in the different parts of the premises, avoid cartons and aluminium foil to wrap snacks, make sure taps are not left running, recycle, etc.
As for the project, one that I think appropriate is, provided there's room enough for it in the schoolyard, to develop a vegetable garden. If there isn't, one option could be to ask the Town Council for a little piece of ground (this way a bigger community would get involved). The vegetable garden offers the chance of learning about nature cycles, reflecting on the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which poison the rivers and kill birds, producing organic food using our own school-made compost and getting parents and grandparents interested in the idea as they could give the students advice.

A veg garden, helps to think about food miles, recycling of materials, with such a project, you can bring in other sustainable issues. In my opinion, all the initiatives and ideas shown both in the video and the guide are great, mainly because they are crucial and they can efective be applied int the school context. So, yes, I could use most of the ideas presented because they are in general simple and they depend on all the agents present at school: students, teachers and all the staff, community members and structures directly and indirectly involved.
Of course that can imply many challenges, but they can all be overcome with real team work, with the collaboration of different teachers and subjects, and the more it involves the students' engagement, the more successful it can be!
And this engagement can be "infectious", making students to feel "addicted" to that project, and at the end of the day they would have learned many different things and, mainly, their way of thinking and behaviour/actions have changed forever.

There are a lot of good ideas. First of all the teachers would engage students in save energy: they can raise and lower the blinds at the beginig and end of classes, bring the sandwich in a reusable tuper...
In class we could analyze the materials we use, whether they are reusable or can be reused, study the trees of the background, if they are autochhonous or invasive species, when they were brought, their history... We can do an interdisciplinary project with parents, teachers and students.

A lot of ideas may be borrowed but we must take small steps towards creating mores sustainable ande climate-friendly centres.
All actors within school system must get involved in it.
This proyect has not to be carried out for only a school year. It must grow during the following years.

The initiatives and ideas reflected in the guide are very useful and the forest trip from the video inspired me to think of a paperless school. Deforestation is a global problem and one of the major causes of climate change. Wood is the main raw material for paper, so saving paper means saving forests.

Our school could try to completely avoid the use of paper. Over time, this initiative could motivate our local community to engage in the development of solutions against climate change. Since we have moved instruction online for the time being, both students and teachers are now used to working exclusively on electronic devices. Once we return to class, we could continue teaching and learning in a paperless environment.

After seeing the guide and the videos from my point of view, teachers can do much more than just teach by carrying out activities aimed at sustainable and ecological education that includes teachers, students and non-teaching staff accompanied by parents and organizations close to the school.

This finishing year we have been working on plastic pollution at our school as a cross curricular project for 2nd grade. We wanted to diminish the plastic consumption at school. A group of students were going to be in charge to promote the idea. In this week reading I enjoyed the idea to involve the cafeteria. I think this kind of implementation and changes needs to be done a step at a time. It's important to monitor the school progress and when you succeed in one step it gives you motivation for another one. I think also participating in a program that gives you different level of certifications is interesting. It can be an incentive for more actors in the school. Of course you need the direction to support you (and your team) and if parents are involved it's even better!

We are all informed about the impact of our activities on the planet. We also know what needs to be done, but how to put into practice ?
This guide gives us some ideas on how we can do it, develop environmental awareness.

Perhaps you can start by applying a questionnaire on how water is used at home, with the help of parents.
Collect the students' responses and compare them with the amount of water consumed in each activity. From here they can decide what they should do to reduce water consumption. The same could be done at school.
In an interdisciplinary way, we will be developing awareness and promoting sustainable attitudes.

I think the ideas from the video are great. For me as a public school teacher, it seems like a dreams. Our curriculum is full and there is no space for other projects. Sharing my ideas with my collegues, we alll agree that the curriculum and the educative system in itself make us unable to develop transversal projects like in the video. I think the first steps are the allow a flexibe curriculum and a flexible grouping and timing, as well as providing more resources to schools and less text books.
Anyway, as we can't chage the traditional educative system from Spain, we should try to make our way. For example, find a eco-project that has things in common with different subjects. In Portugal, environmental approaches are transversal and though all are highly motivated, I believe we have to empower students and other adults in general first, I mean everything is very clear in theory, but there’s a long way to go to put that theory into practice. As far as I am concerned, there should be a more coordinated action-oriented strategy involving local stakeholders and the wide school community, for example, to organise clean-up events, to plant trees or bushes, or to create bike lanes to instill students to bike to school instead of so often being driven by parents.

If I had to choose one or two, I would choose the waste management and the project about birds in the neighbourhood; the first one seems very necessary to me and I think it is a very good idea in order to raise awareness and on the other hand I think it could be done at school, and the second one, about the birds, I must say that bird-watching is one of my favourite hobbies, so with even more reason.

The way to carry out any of the challenges would be to involve not only the students, but the entire educational community including parents.

Besides, I would borrow the idea of considering climate change as part of every subject curriculum and part of the school's teaching plan as well. However, I think that we should start with small steps, small and simple projects, in order to attract everyone's attention and collaboration (teachers, students, parents and the rest of the surrounding community).
We started at my school! We are currently developing a two-year environmental project. It is an Erasmus + project that addresses the following themes: climate change, pollution, threatened species, deforestation, disorderly growth of cities and population.

I would like to create a veg patch in my school. I feels is an achievable project to start with.
I would like to give an area per year group so each class has some ownership of the project.
I will need to discuss my proposal with the Head and agree on an area of land within the school grounds. Then the hard work of preparing the ground will have to be undertaken. I believe if initially we created a gardening club, the preparation work could be done by them maybe during an after-school club. The pupils would then become the gardening experts and guide their class when it came to them taking over an area within the patch.

Mi biggest challenge is that these activities are aimed at children, and I teach adults English as a second language. Adults are stuck in their ways, they are busy with families, jobs, housework, etc. and asking them to invest more time and effort into classes may not be possible. I do like the idea of starting small - doing manageable things which they can take home and hopefully pass on to the other members of their family.

The ideas are great and I think collaborating with other schools, specially in the same area/region will give a boost to any project outcome.
Developing the curriculum is always a challenge and is tricky as we depend of our board but in Portugal will be ok as we have autonomy in our schools.
I enjoyed the A Road Map to an ESD school, and it could be an excellent idea to do it in my school.
Challenges: the same as usually:) tons of bureaucracy and the main one is lack of time as in Portuguese schools what we do related to projects is extra time so we need teachers that are willing to make big personal time sacrifice in their life which is definitively not easy to find.

Following the steps presented in the video, I am now in the early phases of devising a practical project in our school with a multidisciplinar approach. in this vein, the teachers involved have met online to share good practice and to outline the project whose product is the creation of ted talks where students present an ecological problem and how to solve it in an activist way. by doing so, we are trying to empower our students in their own actions to create a more sustainable world.

The video, Where do I start, shows us good ideas: take small steps at the begining, formalise this action, engage all members of the school community, integrate sustainable development and respect to nature in the curricula, develop external relationships and devise a strategy. I´d stress the importance to develop external relationships, for instance, to create a partnership with a local organization that cleans rivers and beaches.
As for the UNESCO guide, Getting Climate-Ready, I´d point out the need to Take action at school, Learning through action: Students should select, plan and implement climate action projects, such us creating a "green club" at school, or a school campaign to use less plastic or to work with a external organization. Acting should promote responsibility and engagement in students. Teachers should mentor this implementation.

Getting the whole school involved: the other teachers (may be the most difficult part)!

Having a school framework that allows such approaches (that is essential and at least in my country it primarily and largely depends on the ministry of education and secondly on the principal of the school)

I think one of the most important ideas shown both in the video and the guide has to do with the need of taking a strategic whole-school approach when dealing with the topic of climate change so everyone in the school (children, parents, teachers, members of the community) could feel like they are part of the process. The actions taken at Colelgio Israelita Barisleiro A. Liessen presented in the guide are really impressive (builiding solar ovens, converting used cooking oil into biodiesel, and so on...).
An idea I think should be borrowed is hosting film nights and workshops where students, families and teachers suggested ways to save the planet (Al-Kwhatar Secondary School mentioned in the guide).
I think it´s a viable first step in order to raise awareness among the members of the school about the climate change topic.
I think we need to adopt a strategic approach, taking small steps (as mentioned in the video). A cineforum where the members of the shool community could watch movies and documentaries about climate change challange is a viable and not very demanding task so you shouldn´t have to deal with difficulties to overcome.

The initiatives in the video are interesting and feasible. There are some activities we already carry out in our schools, such as the ones related to litter and waste, although we don’t have compost and garbage bins and it would be a good idea to do that, also because then the kids would learn and try to do the same at home. I can foresee some reluctance, because this process can imply some lack of comfort (smell, too much time, lack of space…) and to overcome this I can only think of making people see the necessity of an important and not always easy change.

In my high school we have several projects and activities related to sustainability.

The most ambitious is to make our dependencies energetically self-sufficient.

For this we have started with one of our dependencies, what we call "La Casita", which is an independent center building where we have a biology laboratory and a computer room.

In this space we have carried out an eco-audit to calculate the electrical consumption of said space and how we could supply it with photovoltaic solar panels.

Also two of my students have developed a 3D design of this space.

As a matter of fact almost all the ideas and initiatives shown in the video are easily to develop at school. The idea is to apprach the raise the issue step by step. The idea of planting a small vegetabe garden is great. After collecting some vegetables a little market can be set up outside the school buiding. We can collaborate with one or several NGOs in order to organize some meetings with them to raise our students´ awareness of the real meaning of sustainability. The different ideas shown in the video are perfect to develop a Sustainable Development Projects in School. But in my opinion, we must go further. We should transform our schools in Sustainable Centers. Teachers should not be snipers but collaborate to make our Center more sustainable.

My school has been certified in ISO14001:2018 for more than 15 years. We have created an Environmental Committee, who every year (6) plans (1) small steps to be taken along the course, (2) formalizing them in our Environmental Policy and Manual. We try to (3) engage other teachers and students to develop the different activities related to all the topics of Sustainability. We are in contact with teachers of all subjects to (4) develop the curriculum introducing environmental aspects on it. If possible, we develop external relationships with schools and institutions to share knowledge.

As a result of this, in 2019 our centre was recognised as "Sustainable Education Centre" by the Ministries of Environment and Education of the Junta de Castilla y León in Spain. From our point of view, it is not only to develop Sustainable projects but to be real Sustainable Schools.

What do you think of initiatives and ideas shown in the video and the guide?

The activities such as video show different aspects that must be taken into account to implement an educational project that promotes sustainability. The video is very well structured, it is very educational for those organizations that want to know the steps to follow. In any case, in Spain and in my region Castilla y León there are quite a few organizations that work from the perspective of sustainability. Proof of this is that they have received several awards or recognitions from government institutions.

Are there any ideas you could borrow to use in your school?

There are many ideas that we can borrow from this video or the activities shown. Some proposals to develop in the future could be trying to generate ecological consciences among our students, who live sustainability as a way of life. I consider this to be the great challenge facing not only teachers but citizens of the planet. Teachers do many activities but they must be meaningful learning that connects with their day to day.
What challenges do you foresee and how could you overcome them?
Time.
The great challenges that arise are to ensure that the vast majority of our students experience sustainability and ecology as a part of their lives (using non-polluting means of transport, total respect for the environment in which they live, ...). Some very interesting initiatives in this regard are open in my town (See attached). It is amazing and interesting that the local government (town hall) has a plan for sustainability in many areas of the city of Palencia (Spain). (See attached file)

A good idea from the guide is studying in the classrooms how different traditional agriculture was from the way fruit and vegetables are cultivated nowadays (with chemicals and pesticides). We already have taken small steps as we support preschoolers. We recycle, make compost, and have a little garden. We have an every year agenda about biodiversity, saving energy and water. We visit places with specific meaning for the issues above. The greatest challenge is when it comes to confront the state. They never decide to use solar panels for heating so we consume oil; they do not think school as a future investment so they do not spent money on our facilities. They also never decide to put education for sustainability in the core of our programs so we finally send a message that all these are a new modern hobby for schools and not a matter of life. It is discouraging to realize that the big battle is against policy makers and not changing attitudes in education. A powerful way to overcome the challenge is not only to try to persuade every single one but make large and strong teacher communities to vote properly.

This Video gave me valuable guidance; I believe I should start to "Devise a strategy" (point 6), in order to more correctly define a action plan, even before the beginning of classes. The Guide is a fundamental tool to guide all the work to be done. I particularly liked the examples presented and the discrimination of the various roles that each element of the school community can play. At my school we have an organic garden and children with the help of their parents and the local community grow and care for the garden. The next challenge is to create a composting center in collaboration with the parish council for the students' families to bring buckets of food waste to the composting center every week, producing compost that will be used in the school's vegetable garden.
In this way, students understand the concept of waste reduction, recycling, soil sustainability and circular economy.

Both video and guide provide inspiration and useful ideas for the teachers to develop related to Climate Change projects. I already used some of the ideas during the development of an eTwinning project this year with my Italian partner. We empowered our students to make their voice heard taking initiatives while they were working in transnational teams according to their interests. 5 international teams decided to suggest ideas on what to do spreading them with posters and leaflets they did collaboratively using web tools. They even made tv shows using greenscreen technique to announce their products. Although school closures due to the Covid-19 forced us to stay at home and teach remotely we decided to keep on with the project and and its final activities.

The idea of involving communities through the inputs and information given to students is excellent even if sometimes families do not accept to change their habits easily. But if a child can learn and then teach his mother how to distinguish a paper package from a plastic one to recycle it correctly it is already a small achievement.

The whole-school approach to climate change means that environmental, ethical issues are addressed in every aspect of school life. It is the school culture that transcends all school life. It starts with a vision that is shared with everyone, engaging all stakeholders of the school community: students, teachers, other employees, parents and the wider community. The six steps method is very useful and it makes good sense to follow. I'm a firm believer of small steps as it doesn't scare off reluctant students. The commonest plan is recycling in which can everyone participate and can further engage the whole community. Plant a tree or even herbs in one's home and at school can also teach the students how they can actively and without a lot of money or effort make a change for the better that improves their personal life and the environment as well, as they can literally enjoy the fruits of their labour! It teaches commitment and personal responsibility, even an awareness for the use of water and the need for cleaner air. The students can explore within different subjects the circle of water and air, the consumption and waste that one person is accountable for in a month or in the course of their lives. They will use the vocabulary in Greek, English and French or German and make illustrations or videos etc to show the progress their group has made at the end of the school year. A party or even a trip could be arranged to celebrate a job well done!

In my work with preschoolers, I use the small steps principle: we run small plant breeders and observe them; we talk about recycling and collect clothes for reuse (children are included in the collection); we collect nuts; we teach children how to save paper by using both sides of the page; we collect waste paper; during organized trips to nature reserves or various natural environments, we teach proper behavior and protection.

I always start to think big like solar energy panels on the roof, but a small garden is probably visible for the students and parents and can increase intrest in the project. I foresee challenges like engagement from the principal (how much is it going to cost). First of all I consider that we would have to create a team composed of students (different ages), teachers and families.

Them would be the managers of cultivating and compiling all the ideas that arise in the school.

In my humble opinion this is the most important point to encourage the idea of the suistainability of the school.

Besides, teachers should have a course to learn more about this ideas and how to carry out them in their classes. This option will help them to establish this area in the curriculum and also to formalise what are we going to do in the school.

In the first idea said that we have to take small steps, that's why we are going to begin with our school and then we will extend gradually our activities to different places.

Moreover, another important point is to contact with other schools, that's why first of all we would share our ideas and our activities in a blog that will be open for everyone. At our school we have started our vegetable garden by engaging a local community association who have expertise but only a small amount of the students take part in activities there. We definitely needed the whole school approach and that is why we thought that applying for an Erasmus24 months project would help us develop such approach. We aim at learning from and with the rest of our incredible partner schools and develop the idea that ecology must be in ours students nature it shouldn't be an option anymore. All the schools come from different environments, countries and have different experiences to share. There are plenty of ideas that we might develop in the schools. Most of them cross our minds at one point but if we do not incorporate them in our curriculums, they are not developed as they should. That's why I find very useful the 6 tips given at the video.
At the school I used to work, there were many proyects going on:
- At the cantine, children were conscicous of how much food they wanted in order to avoid wasting it.
- Leftovers were bought by school workers in order to save some money for grants.
- There were children in charge of saving energy, usually a volunteer role taken by two kids.
- From Arts, we try to use recycled materials in different projects.
- From Languages, different activities are developed in order to offer information about climate crisis to our kids.
I learnt new ideas from this padlet. the objective has to be modifying our curriculums in order to get the involvement of everyone taking part in the educational system. That's been and is my challenge.

I really enjoyed all the projects presented. They are full of ideas and activities. I really like the idea of involving children from other countries in a network of relationships and also the idea of involving parents and grandparents in school activities. For example, a project based on the idea of Co-operation with parents and external partners could be implemented in my school. At the beginning of the school year, parents and external parents could be involved in the planning of educational objectives regarding the goals of Agenda 2030. One activity that I will definitely organize is this: organizing one-day nature activities for families in the nature school surroundings . Students and parents could use mobile phones to record what they perceive through the 5 senses. Then they could make a poster with the materials and observations collected during the walk in nature. My teaching method is based on Pedagogy in nature, therefore the ideas I found among the proposed materials go well with my methodology.

In the material presented there is a good battery of initiatives to carry out with the students in the centers.
The classification of the different types of waste is something that has been done in our center for many years.
We separate paper and cardboard, glass, plastics, we collect bottle caps, out-of-date medications, batteries. The students are very aware. But here is the question, do these behaviors continue at home?
The idea is to organize a session with their parents to explain the importance of recycling all kinds of materials.
It seems to me essential for students, at least once in each educational stage, to visit the municipal landfill.
I particularly found very interesting, the questionnaires presented in the link.

I think that the video demonstrated a really great approach because it covered a lot of the challenges.

I think the two best initiatives I saw in the video is having an ESD coordinator. We have a coordinator system run at our school which helps delegate tasks and having a coordinator who is in charge of Environment and Sustainability is really a key driver as they are in all of the coordination meetings, etc.

Secondly, doing a survey or census to figure out what people already know. This can be done at the teacher level, but also done by students to students (or teachers). I think this could be an excellent introduction into math, informatics and media literacy, not to mention help build confidence and language skills.

The biggest challenge in my school environment would be teacher buy in-- not because they do not feel it is important, but because they have a lot of responsibilities and things to do (especially because of the young age of our children, many require a lot of assistance and we have a lot of varying language and ability levels) This means maintaining a curriculum that is not well integrated or relies heavily on teacher planning would be inconsistent and not evenly received.

The six steps of WWF to design education about sustainability are very helpful to me. It gives a great image about you can set up this type of education constructively in your school. In my college there are already some initiatieves to make a curricullum about this matter. We are designing a curricullum with Respect Education Foundation and MasterPeace about the SDG's. And as some of you might know; sustainability is a big part of the SDG's. Even though we are already working on it, I am surely going to use the six steps of WWF when I get together with the team with whom we are working on making the school more sustainable.

I find really interesting the idea of creating a climate change team. I think it would help create strong bonds among the community both in our school and its social surrounding, especially taking into account that my school is located in a rural area. The six steps presented in the video are the phases that environmental education must have. We cannot start with big projects but with small things that the students will be capable of carrying out. It is essential that students feel part of that project. The most difficult phase could be to develop external relations with other schools because coordinating such a large project requires a larger infrastructure.

In Cyprus there is time allocated in the school schedule for Education for the environment and sustainable development. Many ideas in the guide and video are put in practice. In every school there is a coordination team involving teachers, parents and students. It is responsible for the action plan, its implementation and the monitoring. There are of course many challenges as tackling with the reluctance of the teachers to diffuse enviromental education's issues in their subjects. Then there is difficulty in developing external relationships with no obvious benefit for the external stakeholders.

Taking small steps and not focusing on quantity is the best advice given. It is also important to be a school management vision on a curriculum based on SD and the willing of teachers to work together for such an education. The initiatives and the ideas presented in the video through the six steps are very useful and educative when teaching our students about the importance of protecting the environment. It presents may examples of what we can do in this case and how we can involve our students in order to help them develop their knowledge about protecting the environment from all points of view and the purpose of this and to educate them for Sustainable Development . First of all, this video makes students understand that we are all responsible for the climate crisis and for protecting nature and that each of us can do something to make the difference and a positive change. For example we can initiate different activities with our students, like planting trees and flowers and ecological activities. We can also prepare a school garden where we can grow vegetables and fruits. Apart from this, I can involve my students in different projects on this topic. We have already took part in an eTwinning Project called ''We are Superheroes'' where students did a lot of activities connected to climate crisis and protecting nature. They also created different objects from recycled things and they presented them to the other partners. For all the activities students work in groups and I believe that this helps them a lot in Education for Sustainable Development in the classroom but also in everyday life. We can organize meetings and activities involving other teachers and the local authorities and even parents. This would be a good way to educate for Sustainable Development. In one way, this could be a challenge because some of them could see these activities as reluctant at first.But, with great determination, involvement, good communication and collaboration, we will manage to persuade and do wonderful things together. As the guide says, it is also highly important to develop our students critical thinking and make them involve in serious problems, give them a voice and let them express their own opinions.

Unfortunately the Greek national curriculum does not promote the integration of nature education in the classroom. However, I believe that it is in school were students can raise their environmental education. Erasmus projects could be a very effective way to incorporate it since students tend to feel very enthusiastic about such projects. However, as with any new initiative in schools, I anticipate some difficulty in terms of organisation at first. Some teachers maybe reluctant to incorporate a new scheme or project into their already busy curriculums and schedules. The video and the guide are both great material for improving teachers and students knowledge about sustainability and sustainable development.
However, students curriculum don't include this knowledge in every subject. I think climate change should be part of a transversal education more than an individual subject or something that is only taught in science subjects.
In the high school, one of the challenges that I foresee could be the lack of encouragement of teachers and students for being more involved in climate change actions. I would overcome this issue with awards for environmentally friendly students and internal training and programs for teachers.
If the high school is a reference for being socially and environmentally responsible, their teachers and students will be too for sure.

For me all parts are important and have to be in a project of this characteristics, specially if we want to leave mark in our students. We have made some projects similar fron the technology department and we follow these steps.

The young students of the school were involved in eco-friendly activities. For example we went to the town park and monitored the birds and tried to follow their movements and songs. Many of our students work on the family vegetable gardens that is why they work about own food. I will borrow ideas for the guide for my Chemistry lessons with the older students. It is very important to design a practical project: in my school I will work on energy used in school. To formalise it the first step is to empower students creating a green committee to hear their decisions. They can work on Math the electricity bill. In Geography they can learn about renewable energy sources and look for alternatives.

They can create brochures or posters to encourage peers and teachers to reduce. They can record a video to share the activities developed. After that they can conduct a research on perception to value the internal and external impact.
A second year project could be to create a space to work in the project.

Developing external relationships is also a goal to make more progress on this project.

There are wonderful ideas that can serve as inspiration or be fully used. I think that exploring the sustainability development goals by UN are a good starting point to start a project in our school. For instance, the second goal - zero hunger. In our school we have a school garden. It is a project that started two years ago so we are still working in order to introduce it in the school curriculum. A coordination between teachers was definitely needed so we created a team to coordinate activities. Our next step will be to create a bank of activities with access to all the school to introduce them in the curriculum.
Families are also welcome to participate and propose ideas to improve the garden.

I'm openminded and I like to relive any suggestion...I think students of all ages are attracted to the movies and videos..I'll use even your advice we received through this course...of course the age of the students should limit our activities but however there is always something that we can do with them.

I really like how the video target 6 key areas on which we should focus on in order to make Education for sustainable development from vision to reality. I would definitely use some ideas from the guide for our school interview local farmers, male and female, to learn how climate change affects them, make graphs to show changes in school energy use, use work place safety measures that protect the health of female and male workers and the environment, asw. I love all of those examples how we can teach climate change in subjects. All of those examples make sense for our school and for every class. We would definitely have to go trough some challenges but it is a necessity that we would fight for a good cause and to take go towards a better and sustainable future.
