There are tons of signs and symptoms that come with this STI and a few are anal itching, pus-like discharge from the rectum and pain/pus coming from the eyes. It can pass on to an infant when coming through the birth canal and cause eye infections if not treated. There are also long term effects of gonorrhea. One of them is pelvic inflammatory disease which causes ectopic pregnancy and infertility. This STI is mainly treated by a single dose of 500 mg antibiotic called intramuscular ceftriaxone.
