I think this song does a good job of showing how emotion and messages can be conveyed through music. It shows how Maze and Frankie Beverly show transmission through their work with the tone, and the lyrics alone. He sings it as if he is anxious and concerned about the recent events in the song. You can get the feeling of angst from him when you listen to the music and the lyrics. This song/cover by Pentatonix really captives the meaning of transmission. Every single vocal piece in this song has ever so a hint of emotion behind it. This can be shown with notes, pitches, and the emphasis the singers put on the lyrics as they are sung. Music is meant to have such emotion and such intention in each song or piece played. Ratliff describes transmission as “when you have a great gift in music and set a great amount go energy towards maintaining and developing it-when you have dedicated your life to an idea of excellence and then self preservation-then you are practicing a form of transmission overtime you play." I agree with his statement as musicians and artists who perform with great might have a stronger emotion and meaning behind their words and their rhythms. Whenever I listen to a song, I’m like to listen to whatever transmission is conveyed in the song to get the meaning or power behind the piece. I hope that this padlet allows you to discover the true meaning on transmission along with some new songs to listen to from my examples.
