This is where I get the understanding of the American dream. I get this definition because James Truslow Adams is the creator of what the American dream is. He came up with the Definition of the American dream in 1931. His American dream was to become a business owner and move my family out of Peru and create a good and better life in America. What influenced his American dream was when his mom and sister asked him if he would want to forget his life in Peru and move to America to hope for a better life. By them moving over to America it put his dream in action and he was able to accomplish his American dream. He was able to do this because now he owns his own business helped some of his family move out of Peru. He says he still believes America is the land of because most people still come over here from other countries to have a better life because you get so many opportunities in America way more than any other country. He said the best advice he got when going for his american dream was to not be content or settle because there is always someone coming for your spot and you shouldn't let them take it. Finally he thinks the american dream is still alive today and you just have to be willing to put in the time to accomplish it.

This is such a great book to read if your doubting the American dream and dont think you can do it. This book displays the American dream so well because it talks about how she grew up in Mexico for most of her life with no dad while he was in America making them money. And then he finally comes back and takes them to America with him. Grande than goes on to talk about how hard it was for her in America but she also talks about how she was able to accomplish her dream. Such as she talks about how it was her dream to get a degree and make a book And she was able to do that when she came over to America. She ended up graduating from University of California Santa Cruz and releasing her first book in 2012. This shows how the American dream is alive and well because if she was able to accomplish her American dream while living in Mexico for her most of her childhood you should also be able to accomplish your american dream. He goes on to talk and say how this may seemed far fetched given the culture climate in the US today. But he did a survey from 2,411 people and 85% of them indicated that to accomplish your American dream you need to freedom of choice in how to live. This shows out of those 85% of the people who said that 100% of them are on there way to accomplish their American dream because you have freedom of choice in America. The data also shows that 41% of the 2,411 people are already living their American dream or on their way of doing so.
