He is a master of blending in, and is on good terms with every clique in his high school, and he would like to keep it that way. He has one friend named Earl Jackson with whom he makes independent movies with. On the first day of senior year, Greg's mom forces him to get in touch with a girl he used to know who has been diagnosed with cancer. Greg is reluctant to spend too much time with Rachel because his plan to get through high school relatively anonymously would be ruined. Nonetheless, he spends time with Rachel and eventually the two of them become very close. In this story, Greg learns about himself and sees himself in a totally new perspective. With the help of Rachel, he finally figures out what path in life he's going to take, instead of wandering lost like he was before he met her. I highly recommend this book not only for it's hilarious and witty narration, but for the heart behind it all.
