As stated in the textbook the renaissance was the "rebirth of the science of medicine." I feel that this is an important era/event because it was a time of revolutionary advances for that period. With the help of Leonardo da Vinci and Michealangelo. The artist were able to draw an realistic representation of the human body. Which was then used to teach medical students about the body. This even increased longevity from 30 to 40 which meant a lot back then.

Anton Van Leeuwenhoek was the Father of Microbiology. He contributed the microscope to the world as we know it. The microscope is used to look at wee organisms that can't be seen with the naked eye. By using this the practitioners were bale to identify the germs and bacteria that caused these horrendous outbreaks. He was able to make observations on stuff like blood vessels. This is the foundation for microbiology. In the end, the microscope is long lived and changed how medicine is seen.

Thanks to Florence Nightingale's constancy the way nursing has grown and revolutionized has been incredible. She fought for the poor sanitary and hygiene conditions which ultimately led to some of the diseases. She held this close to her heart and found repair within the broken health care system that aided the poor and wounded soldiers. She showed the correlation between poor sanitary conditions and higher number of deaths and this transformed many things. Her efforts are very much appreciated and conditions in war and in hospitals were never the same.

Clara Barton founded one of the most prolific organizations of America. She became a public figure for the wounded soldiers and lack of supplies. She remained persistent and was able to have the U.S. join the Treaty of Geneva. Her contributions meant a lot to the world. Because of her countries are able to have a chance at much needed help whether it be war or natural disasters. This brought much calm to what situations seemed like whirlwinds.

The act was put in place to fight against smallpox. Smallpox was a very serious disease in which many children contracted, and never lived to see adult hood. Dr. Edward Jenner discovered the vaccine for smallpox. But devious doctors gave out crooked versions of the vaccines causing an even larger outbreak within the states. But to have actually put the Vaccine Act in place says a lot about America and the lengths it'll go to protect its dear citizens.

When we go to the doctor's office it is common that the doctor checks our breathing and heartbeat. All because René Laënnec made that possible. With the invention of the stethoscope he was able to discover melanoma, cirrhosis, and tuberculosis. I feel this is important because it is better able to understand some respiratory problems that are still around today.

Miller Reese invented the battery hearing aid. With the hopes of helping and deaf and speechless friend. After many trials it was was his acousticon that finally won many people over. Just in fact that Queen Alexandria had one and earned at least 90%of her hearing back.

The bubonic outbreak was fairly large it killed many of the populations in Europe and Asia. At this time typhoid, smallpox, malaria, diphtheria, and tuberculosis was still going around. I think this was an important event because it made people wanna get out and find a cure instead of praying it away like it had done in the pass. (This would be the outfit of a doctor during the plague)

Andreas Versalius came out with the first book of human anatomy creating this he was able to share a better understanding of the human body and how it works. The book itself was really available thanks to the printing press. His contribution is important because this was the base for learning about human anatomy.

Elizabeth Blackwell was the first female physicianTo me this means a lot, this means breaking down the norms for society at that time. Because at this time you wouldn't see women hold such powerful status. This proves that women can do just as much as men.

Bayer came out with Aspirin in 1899. This especially means a lot because many use it as means to calm down fever, relieve pain and calm down inflammation. Today it is so easy to go to the store and purchase aspirin and the same healing effects it had over 119 years ago is still prevalent today.

The x-ray gives us insight on how the body looks on the inside and what can't be detected on the outside can now be detected on the inside.
