This amendment states "no person shall be [...] deprived of life, liberty, or property." Life, liberty, and property can be infinitely expanded on to protect the safety and wellbeing of all people, from both the government and those around them. Not only does this statement outline what I consider to be the bare minimum of what should be respected, but it guarantees these basic rights to those who reside within the nation. Without this, non guilty criminal defendants could be held under a cloud of unproven accusations. Some rights include the right to a public trail without unnecessary delay, the right to a lawyer, the right to an impartial jury, and the right to know accusers and charges against them.
