Outreach is one-way communication that tells community members about an opportunity. Engagement includes listening, discussion and decision making.

Community plays a strong part for our program because they bring the opportunity to collaborate with different programs. For instance, we were present with an opportunity to bring a different type of employer to our program because we met this guy in the community and started talking with him. He in turn provided an opportunity for fashion for students to make military uniforms.

regular communication between organizations is just part of the work - not a new or separate hard thing to do - it is just built into how we onboard and do our work

Outreach and community engagement go hand in hand with recruitment and enrollments. A lot of people, especially from the populations and communities we focus on, aren't aware of the resources out there so it's our responsibility to make them aware, help them enroll which can assist on their path towards self-suffiency
