How did power come into play?
Liz did not have much power but with her father, he made a change in her life even her fiance. Her father didn't give her much attention. ¨A little girl of twelve came up timidly to the man reading and resting by the window, and said: "Papa, won't you play a game of checkers with me if you aren't too tired?" The red-haired, unshaven, untidy man sitting shoeless by the window answered, with a frown. "Checkers. No cant a man who has been working get some. go play with the kids on the sidewalk" and the Kid was trying to get ´revenge´ when all he had to do was make things right and just stayed with his FIANCE. "I'm no Annie admirer!" said the "Kid," dropping a cigarette ash on his polished toe, and wiping it off on Tony's shoulder. "But I want to teach Liz a lesson. She thinks I belong to her. She's been bragging that I daren't speak to another girl. Liz is all right—in some ways. She's drinking a little too much lately. And she uses language that a lady oughtn't."

Is it corrupting the characters or helping them?
Both of the characters were corrupting Liz. Kid was ´trying to get back at her´. Her father wasn't there to give her the attention and affection that she wanted.

What qualities did the main character have that helped or hindered them?
The main quality wit Liz was that she was drinking, wasn't trying to help herself, didn't try to overcome the pain from the neglect of her parents on her own.

How did power come into play?
Words is what came into play that made Mary Maloney become powerful, violent, and a little psycho.

Is it corrupting the characters or helping them?

The words corrupted the character. “This is going to be a bit of a shock to you, I’m afraid,” he said. “But I’ve thought about it a good deal and I’ve decided the only thing to do is tell you right away. I hope you won’t blame me too much.” And he told her. It didn’t take long, four or five minutes at most, and she sat very still through it all, watching him with a kind of dazed horror as he went further and further away from her with each word. “So there it is,” he added. “And I know it’s kind of a bad time to be telling you, but there simply wasn’t any other way. Of course I’ll give you money and see you’re looked after. But there needn’t really be any fuss. I hope not anyway. It wouldn’t be very good for my job.”

What qualities did the main character have that helped or hindered them?
Mary Maloney did not think before she acted she didn't have to kill her husband she could've did it another way. “For God’s sake,” he said, hearing her, but not turning round. “Don’t make supper for me. I’m going out.” At that point, Mary Maloney simply walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head. She might just as well have hit him with a steel club. She stepped back a pace, waiting, and the funny thing was that he remained standing there for at least four or five seconds, gently swaying. Then he crashed to the carpet. The violence of the crash, the noise, the small table overturning, helped bring her out of the shock. She came out slowly, feeling cold and surprised, and she stood for a while blinking at the body, still holding the ridiculous piece of meat tight with both hands. All right, she told herself. So I’ve killed him.

How did power come into play?
Power came at the beginning of the play. At first, he was brave, a bad ass, everyone admired him. Then he ran into witches and they bosted his head up and he did everything in his power to become king. Which then made him insane.

Is it corrupting the characters or helping them?
Macbeth's power was corrupting everyone. Once the witches told him he was going to be king "Third witch; Your descendants will be kings, even though you will not be one. So all hail, Macbeth, and Banquo'', and then he realized how he had to be king it went all downhill from there "Lady Macbeth; Who could think it happened any other way? We’ll be grieving loudly when we hear that Duncan has died. Macbeth; Now I’m decided, and I will exert every muscle in my body to commit this crime. Go now, and pretend to be a friendly hostess. Hide with a false pleasant face what you know in your false, evil heart.". Once he killed King Duncan he went insane started hearing voices and killing more people.

What qualities did the main character have that helped or hindered them?
Greedy falls under peer pressure and he didn't have a mind of his own which hindered him. What helps him, in the beginning, was that he was brave, confident, and willing to do any and everything to help.

Summary

“Based on all the works we have read, how does having the power lead someone to corruption?”
Power leads to corruption by taking it all to your head, not understanding that it can hinder you and break you down into millions of pieces, and the fact you're human just like everyone else. You don't have to be so cocky and treat everyone badly just because you have more power such as Ozymandias, "‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' ". Don't let bad things become who you are with Viva La Vida, "It was the wicked and wild wind blew down the doors to let me in shattered windows and the sound of drums people couldn't believe what I'd become revolutionaries wait for my head on a silver plate ". Lastly, the story I'm going to reference is the Guilty Party because this particular story that would lead you to corruption is don't let people and their actions define who you are. Just because someone who was so important to you didn't give you what you need or did something to hurt you "No cant a man who has been working get some. go play with the kids on the sidewalk: She thinks I belong to her. She's been bragging that I daren't speak to another girl. Liz is all right—in some ways. She's drinking a little too much lately. And she uses language that a lady oughtn't.". All you need to do is forgive that person and make happiness for yourself no one can do that for you except you. To sum this up power does crazy things to people which makes them do bad things, get full of themselves, and lose who they are as a person.
