Then threats were made to both side of the trading parties over a horse that a Sioux man had stolen from the Frenchman. The French man said that they had to go on and continue their travels; and the chief of the Sioux tribe said that he had warriors and that if the travels of the Englishmen were to continue, they would follow them and kill them. Then Captain Clarke stated that, they were sent to the land by their president and that there would be a hug war between the two people. The next day the Indians met captain Clarke on the shore, but they wanted captain Lewis, and told him to get into a buffalo robe and they carried him on the tribes forts, and they had several dogs made to feast on and then they had assembled their woman to dance until 11 o’clock.
