I am familiar with system thinking and how various components of the system are related as well as with stakeholder analysis where I can classify people in terms of their power/interest. Also, the iceberg model is logical – as it is referring to underlying patterns and structures causing surface activity – and I comprehend the links and nodes model is used to define the relationships between different elements which exist in the system.

Nevertheless, there are still concerns – for instance, while thinking systematically, one may be unsure of how best to demarcate the borders of a particular system and determine what is significant. The iceberg model is also somewhat ambiguous at times, particularly when it comes to defining the distinction between the fundamental frameworks of the organization and the related mentalities that fuel the actions of its members. I also did not understand which of the connections or nodes are crucial or have higher significance in cases of large networks.

After completing the weekly activities, I went through the written feedback to look for areas that should be improved, I also asked the instructor a couple of questions where I had some difficulties. I also reviewed the weekly study folders in orders to get more clarity.

I believe that in order to have a better understanding of these concepts, more real-life scenarios and working case-studies should be introduced. Working sessions, such as an actual discussion focusing on the need for change, would also be useful as would additional readings or watching video from systems thinkers. If I had more tools for creating systems visuals, then it would be easier to know what aspects and connections to look for when navigating through such situations.
