  • Start the lesson using 10 interjections loud enough for the students to hear. Make up scenarios such as: “Yahoo! It’s almost lunch time.” “Wow! That’s a nice shirt, Mike.”  “Hey, what are you doing?” and others.
  • Ask: Class, what did you notice about the last ten statements I just made?
  • Allow for responses and discussion. If students were listening, they should notice the interjections. If no one guesses, say a few more aloud and then ask the question again.
    • (exclamatory words are called interjections)
