And in a way, you could say that my father’s end was my beginning. Or more precisely, that the end of his life coincided with the beginning of my truth.” This paragraph to me speaks to the process of creating this narrative (not just the ties she draws between her father’s death and her coming out).

How [do other members of our class] view this topic of personal storytelling whether in the nonlinear, present-past fusion (that [Jessica] thinks Bechdel provides) or in the personal as political, silencing of others (that [Jessica] thinks Lorde puts forth) and how these might be sources of inspiration for our final projects.
