A year later, he was also nominated as a Minister at Philadelphia and New York's Mosques.

In 1957, Malcolm made his own newspaper titled "Muhammad Speaks" for the NOI.

In the 1960s, his debating career began as he spoke at radio stations, schools, television programs, and universities.
