Her audience is people who are interested in her story and her life. The purpose of creating this song was to make something giving backstory to Crybabies’ home life. The subject piece is Crybabies’ dysfunction family with the infidelity that dad is doing, mom’s alcoholism, the brothers drug problem, and lastly how crybaby is trying to deal with it.  The song overall has a very spooky tone as that is Melanie’s favorite way of portraying her music

Crybaby acting as the speaker attempts to tell people who are interested in her story that her family is very dysfunctional. They use the appeals of logos and ethos in the lyrics and the appeal of logos and pathos in the video to get this message across. 

In analyzing the lyrics and video, it appears that their use of appeals is effective in convincing their effective in convincing their intended audience. 

 Melanie uses a lot of logos in her lyrics we can see this in when we are looking at the line Dad’s with a slut“ this is logos because of how literal it is. She is directly telling you that her dad is with a slut and this is effective because it shows how dysfunctional her family is with her dad cheating with her mom. 

Another line where she uses logos in the lyrics is in the line “picture smile for the picture” because she is literally telling you  that she needs to force herself to smile for these family picture even when she doesn’t want to this is effective in showing how she need to portray that her family is happier than what it actually is. 

Melanie uses a lot of ethos in her lyrics in her songs as there is a lot of connections that you need to make in the song one lyrics where she does that is in the line “Put on your doll face” the reason why this is a ethos appeal is because you would need to understand that when you refer to something being a doll face is that it looks fake and plastics and looks to perfect to actually be a real things which is what she wants to convey in her song as Crybaby feels that she needs to be prefect all the time for her family. 

She also uses ethos in the line “she pulls out a flask and forgets his infidelity” because you would need to have the connections of the a flask usually holds an alcoholic beverage and that the mom is using drinking as a coping mechanism to forget about all of the infidelity that the dad is doing.
