A clear understanding of 21st century knowledge and skills - It's important to know where you are headed and what needs to be accomplished. This allows for purposeful and effective planning.

Commitment and community - Teachers and administrators must be committed to each other and the students. Teachers have to know that they are supported by their peers and superiors.

Adaptation - Teachers and administrators must be open to new ideas and new information.
The Relationship Between Professional Development and Instructional Strategies for Student Learning

There are many similarities between professional development and instructional strategies used in the classroom. Teachers learn very similar to how students learn. Professional development should include meaningful, collaborative, and engaging activities. There should be time for discussion and also opportunities for self-directed learning. Teachers learn by doing just like students do in the classroom. Teachers should also see relevance in the material and be able to apply the concepts to their own classroom.

I would prefer to use the data carousel. I believe the carousel can be used for more specific data evaluation for targeted content areas. I also like that the teachers are responsible for responding to the data and input is coming from across instructional areas.

Math anxiety has become a serious issue in secondary education. Teachers can help decrease anxiety by discussing with students the thought process behind problem solving. A set of problem solving steps can ease stress and offer support. I encounter this issue daily with high school students.
