Through out the movie, The Lorax, you see a community that is living in an advancement of technology. For example, they have bottled air, food that is made from jello, and trees that are obviously not real. Thneedville is controlled by  O'Hare, who puts more interest on his corporate earnings then the health of his people. The community of Thneedville is living in a dystopian society, with the illusion of a perfect utopian society.

In this book, the kids get stranded on a desert island, and they develop a system by which they are expected to follow. The problem with this is that, since they don't have adults to enforce these rules, they become violent and end up killing each other.
