There are many new apartment complexes that have been developed in this area. Hopefully, this will lead to more affordable options for residents in the area, stuggling to find affordable housing.

Pickleball and Cider!

Beach Volleyball

Walking down the steet in South Salt Lake, I came across a beach volleyball court in the middle of a new apartment development area! I don't know if it was open to the public but was nice to see a recreational activity in the open!

Rock Climbing!

Right next to the volleyball court was a fun rock-climbing gym. Even though you would have to pay for the membership, it was cool to see in the heart of a new and gentrified area!

Public parking and Transit

Worried about parking at the U? One thing I find really nice is the parking lots near public transit stations! Just park and hop on transit so you don't have to stress about getting a parking spot at the University!

Harmony Park

This park is right by where I live and it is a great spot for a quick walk or some recreational activities such as club baseball or soccer. It also has a couple of tennis and basketball courts too!

Local Fire Station

Right by the park is a fire station. I don't know how new it is but it does look well kept and is a great sign that the city is supporting first responders! I have even shopped with the fire fighters who work at this station at the nearby Winco!

Good Old Road Construction

Even though I commented on road construction in my previous neighborhood mapping assignment mentioning that it seems to be a never-ending project, it is important to highlight the importance of maintaining our public roads! They have also made a lot of progress, even though it seems to be taking FOREVER! HAHA!

Assets Experience

After the first assignment, I didn't really know what to expect when looking for assets in my neighborhood. Having a set mindset whether it be looking for the positives or negatives really changes how you see things around you.

I am happy to say that it was a lot easier for me to see assets around my neighborhood compared to the last assignment. The community seems to be gentrifying in a lot of different areas in this part of town. The most notable being how many apartment complexes there are in this area. There were also many new businesses that are offering fun and community-based activities which I thought were a good addition!
