-Read together at night
-Grew up to not like reading:  encourage students to pick a topic they are interested in to get their interest
-Support group from parents wasn't always there, reading wasn't reinforced and not an every day thing.
-How to engage students that don't love to read?   Pull up an article or something different that is something that they can read that interests them.  
-Look into other types of reading material: magazines, comics, etc.
-Put subtitles on when watching videos in class, gives more opportunities to read.
-read together as a class just for fun - kids love to be read to!
-Encourage writing to help with the connections between reading and writing.
-Real-world connections:  house products, street signs, labels, etc.
-Encouraging students within the classroom setting and to be supportive.
