"Change is the only constant" as stated by the New York best-selling author - Ryan Holiday. Indeed, this has raised questions as to whether schools should have an immutable curriculum or an adaptive one that changes according to students’ needs. In my judgement, having an adaptive curriculum can better prepare pupils for success, as the immutable can become outdated and only leads to misinformation.

An old saying goes: “To achieve the perfect curriculum, one must refrain from overdosing it with knowledge and rather make it so that those who follow can adapt well to new happenings”. In the saying's time, questions have been invoked regarding the matter of a curriculum with an abundance of knowledge that does not change or one that assists learners to deal with changes. In my own perspective, the saying is correct, even though it needs clarification that a curriculum does not only teach someone to adapt well, but also bring basic information that would not go out of date.

To this day, the concept of a perfect syllabus is still being debated on among educational entrepreneurs. It is commonly said that a fixed range of knowledge is not an ideal education system, but rather the way educators enlighten pupils how to deal with novelty in life. In my judgment, this proverb is completely on point, and it perfectly illustrates the elephant in the room in the present school system, which is to teach the student how to remember, not how to learn.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has been a daunting force of change to the socioeconomic landscape. Such an event has compelled thousands of employees to operate efficiently even in the face of unfamiliar settings and intangible objectives; but it has also shone a new light on the importance of adaptability in the modern labour market. Believing education should reflect such a reality, many advocate for a curriculum which emphasizes on the ability to cope with changes rather on a pre-determined pool of knowledge. In my judgement, such a proposal is a wise step into the future where changes are ubiquitous .

"Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world" as Nelson Mandela once said. Education has long been a vital aspect of our civilization's development. Nonetheless, people are still wondering whether the ideal curriculum should provide learners with factual understandings or the ability to adapt to upcoming changes. From my viewpoint, the latter seems to be more effective and efficient for students to better prepare for their future.

A curriculum is as crucial to an education system as a compass to travelers. Therefore, various opinions have been made regarding the definition of an ideal curriculum. Prominent among them is one that denounces the dependence of curriculums on a fixed basis of knowledge and instead, focuses on assisting learners in dealing with changes. I believe this viewpoint is correct because having such a syllabus can potentially provide students with a myriad of benefits.

"Education doesn’t have aims. It is the aim of other things." - Andrew Abbott. What truly makes a good education? A high-quality education requires the fact that all students can do the best of their ability while the education given to them must be inclusive and equitable. But there is still the question of the changing environment that the students are experiencing relevant to the holistic development and that's why education, educators alike, should promote lifelong learning and ways to manage the ever-changing world.
