Today we recreated a scene from the 1995 film 'Heat', which featured 4 different shot sizes. I helped set up the tripod and camera, as well as the correct audio levels for the lapel mics that were equipped to the two actors in the scene.

Today we held a production meeting with all the actors from the HND acting and performance class involved with our scene recreations to discuss the scenes we will be recreating, as well as answering questions the actors had about the production (IE: Location, roles, clothes, makeup, rehearsal dates, etc). This meeting was very productive as it allowed us to plan future dates for significant events (rehersal dates) and it also allowed us to further interact with the actors. We discussed what roles the actors wanted to play and we decided that Nathan would be playing Kate and Hunter would be playing Lindsay in our recreation of Line of Duty.

Today we had our first ever rehearsal with the HND acting and drama class. Our two actors were Nathan, playing Kate, and Hunter, who would be playing Lindsay. This was productive as it allowed the actors to further learn their lines and improve their line delivery.

Today was the first ever scene recreation. The scene we had to create was from the television programme “Line of Duty”. My role was script supervisor, which meant I had to make a lined script during pre-production, which I passed onto the director during filming. I also made a lined script while the production was happening as well. I also gave each actor a printed copy of the script. I showed good communication skills, which is essential for a script supervisor, by ensuring that the actors eyelines matched and were consistent throughout. I also informed the actors when they got their lines wrong or missed some of the words in the script. Also, I informed the director of any continuity errors and to be on the lookout for any continuity errors she may have noticed.

Today we had a rehearsal with the Peaky Blinders actors which went really well. Both actors knew their lines incredibly well and they knew how to deliver the lines well. I also used today as a opportunity to book the kit for next week when the shoot will take place as it was part of my job as role of first AD.

Today we took the footage from the ‘Line of Duty’ and edited it altogether. My role was online edit/deliverables. I added closing titles at the end, which I struggled to figure out at the start but I now know how to do. Additionally, I had to export the timeline, one in 780p and one in 1080p. I also had to trim down the footage from the offline edit to make it flow smoother among other things.

Today was the Peaky Blinders scene recreation. My role was first AD. I showed good communication skills by speaking in a direct way to the actors and crew to inform them of what was required of them. I also showed good communication skills by consistently asking the director about his vision for the scene so I could help him achieve it. I gave each actor, Freya and Summer, a printed copy of the script when they arrived just in case. I also had a printed copy of the script, which I read through several times during production to see what was needed in terms of the cast.

December 4th

Today we took the footage from our second and final scene recreation 'Peaky Blinders' and edited it altogether. My role was the same as last time, online edit/deliverables. Overall I thought my editing was better than last time and my editing skills have improved.

One of my jobs as First AD was to use a clapperboard for each scene. I kept a note of each slate, scene and take and changed the clapperboard every time we did a different shoot.
