In 1898, the first British film company, called Gaumont-British Picture Corp., was found. In 1902 in London, Ealing Studios was found by Will Barker. It is the oldest still operating film studio in the world.

The UK is among the leading film-producing markets. In 2016, 200 feature films have been produced there, and there are about 15,000 film and video production companies.

In 1920’s, film industry of the UK was losing due to competition from the USA. Many British film studios were closed. In April 1928, Cinematograph Film Act designed by the Parliament came into force to boost local production. Generally this act was a succes, but it also caused creating poor quality, low cost films.

„Blackmail” by Alfred Hitchcock is often regarded as the first British film with sound.

Just before the war, Humphrey Jennings started his career as a documentary film maker. The best known British movies from 1940s are „In Which We Serve” (1942), Millions Like Us (1943) and „We Dive at Dawn” (1943). This films helped to sape the image of nation at a war. At the end of the war, the Rank Organisation founded by J. Arthur Rank, became the main force in British cinema.

English Reformation 

 Henry isusuallycredited with initiating English Reformation – the method of remodeling England from a Catholic country to a Protestant one . He appointedhimself the SupremeHead of the Church of England and dissolvedconvents and monasteries, that he was excommunicated.In 1527, Henryuntilthen adevoutCatholic, appealed to the Pope for anannulment of hismarriage to Catherine. No annulment was given.The traditionalnarrativesignalsthisrefusalas the trigger for Henry'srejection of papalsupremacy (which he hadpreviouslydefended),I wouldarguethatifHenry had not neededanannulment, Henry mayhavecome toagainrejectpapalcontrolover the governance of England for politicalreasons. 

Finances 

Henry inherited a vastfortune and a prosperouseconomy from hisfather Henry VII, whohadbeenfrugal and careful with money. Thisfortune was estimated to be £1,250,000 (£375 million by today'sstandards).  

By comparison, however, the reign of Henry was a disaster in financialterms. Although he furtherexpandedhisroyaltreasurythrough the seizure of churchlands, Henry's heavy spending and longperiods of mismanagementhavedamaged the economy. 

Much of thiswealth was spent by Henry on maintaininghiscourt and household, includingmany of the buildingworks he undertook on royalpalaces. Henry hung 2,000 tapestries in hispalaces; by comparison, James V of Scotland hungjust 200. 

Henry tookpride in showing off hiscollection of weapons, whichincludedexoticarcheryequipment, 2,250 pieces of land artillery and 6,500 handguns.
The Tudor conquest of Ireland took place under the Tudor dynasty, whichheld the Kingdom of England during the 16th century. Following a failedrebellionagainst the crown by Silken Thomas, the Earl of Kildare, in the 1530s, Henry VIII was declared King of Ireland by statute of the Irishparliament, with the aim of restoringsuch central authority as hadbeenlostthroughout the country during the previoustwohundredyears.  

The conquest continued for sixtyyears, until 1603, when the entire country cameunder the nominalcontrol of James I, exercisedthroughhisprivycouncilat Dublin. Thiscontrol was perfected upon the Flight of the Earls in 1607.  

The conquest was complicated by the imposition of English law, language and culture, as well as by the extension of Anglicanism as aninstitutionalreligion. The Spanish Empireintervenedseveraltimesat the height of the Anglo-Spanish War, and the Irishfoundthemselvescaughtbetweentheirwidespreadacceptance of the Pope's authority and the requirements of allegiancedemanded of them by the English monarchy.  

Upon completion of the conquest, the polity of Gaelic Ireland had been largely destroyed and the Spanish were no longer willing to intervene directly. This left the way clear for extensive confiscation of land by English, Scots, and Welsh colonists, culminating in the Plantation of Ulster. 

For people who have names which are typically associated with race other than white it is harder to get a job. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, job applicants who had white sounding names need to send about 10 applications to get 1 call back, meanwhile people with African-American sounding names had to send 15 applications to get one call back. Many employers have deeply rooted stereotypes about the quality of work that people of color bring to their business. Minorities are not only hired less, but once they are hired, they tend to make lower wages even if they have the same qualifications. He also moved on the topic of the Ku Klux Klan. Personally, I would add some more information about it and its activities. For example, how it was growing or if it still exists. Links are below.

The best point of Tomek presentation is style of his magazine.

I liked font in Oliwia's magazine used in topics of each page. 

Łukasz used some grey shapes which looks great in empty space.

In Natalia's project i liked the most short admission.

Mateusz magazine is very good organized.

Hania placed in her work nice curiosities.

Photos in Kuba's presentation are very good placed.

In Natasza's magazine i liked the look of it. Photos are very big and there are a lot of them. It looks like real fashion magazine.

Oliwia: There are many pictures illustrating each outfit.

Łukasz: The topic is interesting and the maps help to understand it.

Natalia: The font is very nice and readable.

Mateusz: The layout is very clear, the pictures and colors match.

Hania: There are a lot of photos and nice, clear layout.

Michalina: Colours and layout of this magazine are beautiful.

Kuba: I think that it’s the best layout, everything is clear and well illustrated by pictures.

Natasza: There is a lot of information and large bibliography.

2.       Tomek presented his project with many curious facts, also the bibliography was great.

3.       I think that Oliwia completely exhausted the topic by writing about very long period of time.

4.       Łukasz used the best style, so his project is very transparent.

5.       In my next work I would use font presented in Natalia’s project, its overall look is great.

6.       Hania managed to compose text with multiple photos in the best way.

7.       Michalina provided very useful informations that I didn’t know about earlier.

8.       Kuba’s project has very interesting form.

9.       Natasza’s project overall look is just the best, I think that it’s mainly thanks to multiple photos in great quality.
