As the final thing that Ramona says when Scott is dead, she says to Scott "Maybe im not the one you should have been fighting for." With his new found resolve of doing things for himself, he is ready to redo the fight with Gideon. When Scott confronts Gideon the second time he also confronts his own flaws. Scott gains a deeper understanding of how he has hurt others, as he apologizes to knives properly.
