Case study: Saudi Arabian response to the US response to the murder of Jamal Kashoggi at the Turkish embassy in October

Background to the crisis:
It is clear that the Saudi Arabians would be called to be accountable to explaining the death of Kashoggi. Saudi Arabia has defended itself allowing Turkish to hold further investigations. Trump reacted with the message that there would be “very severe” consequences and possible economic sanctions, on Saudi Arabia as have most global states have said. As a result, the Saudi Arabians more specifically the Riyadh has responded to this that they will reject any action taken out on them any action on them threatening to "respond with greater action" in retaliation. Also they gave the threat that the country “plays an effective and vital role in the world economy”, so imposing sanctions can be damaging for their economy and for the world.

Winter, P, (2018). Saudi Arabia to hit back in case of sanctions over Jamal Khashoggi (the Guardian). https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/14/jamal-khashoggi-turkey-looks-to-uk-to-persuade-saudi-arabia-to-cooperate
