I will be focusing on the physical aspect of infancy development. As an infant, your motor skills increase. At three months old, you are able to have some coordinated movements of your limbs. Then, at 11 months old, your fine motor skills increase, and you're able to grab small objects. This is a picture of me around 11 months old, where you can see me grabbing my bottle. I'm starting to use fine motor skills and my fingers to grab the handle. You can also see I was a happy baby when it came to food, and I liked to make a mess.

For early childhood physical development, I will focus on gross motor skills. At this age, you gain more control of your large limbs and can start to run, jump, and balance. This is a picture of me on my first soccer team. It was a local recreational team that promoted fun with team sports. I could run and develop my gross motor skills further by kicking the ball.

For newborns, I'm going to focus on birth weights. With today's medical advances and technological development, there is a greater chance of survival with low birth weight and preterm labor survival. Very-low-birthweight is considered lower than 3.3 pounds or has been in the womb for fewer than 30 weeks. There is no clear explanation for why some babies are preterm or have a low birth weight. Having a low birth weight lowers the survival rate due to the immaturity of their organs, and many other reasons. The picture above is of me as an infant right after birth.

I will focus on speech and language for early childhood cognitive development. During early childhood, your syntax grows, and you can combine thousands of words to create different sentences and meanings. You should also be almost completely intelligible to a known speaker. A way that helps early childhood language growth is reading. Books model a higher level of syntax and expose kids to new words. This is a picture of me and my sisters all having books. At night, we were all allowed to pick a book, and our parents read it to us. I'm the youngest in this picture, and I'm right around preschool age in this.

For early childhood social development, I'm going to focus on different types of play. There are six types of play: functional, constructive, parallel, onlooker, associative, and cooperative play. Onlooker play is when kids watch others play but do not play with others. Parallel play is when kids play next to each other but don't play with each other. Associative play is when kids start to interact with each other during play. Functional play is when children use toys and/or objects for their intended use. Constructive play is when you use different objects to create something. An example of this would be blocks or play dough. Cooperative play is when kids play together to reach an outcome. This picture is an example of me doing parallel play. This is me at bible school, creating a craft and playing at a table. I am not talking or associating with the other two kids at the table (my sister and cousin); I'm just playing by myself.

For middle childhood physical development, I'm going to focus on encouraging sports to stay fit. A focus on middle childhood development is obesity, and a reason for obesity is a lack of exercise. There is now a push for kids to play sports, and they are starting to get more skilled in playing sports. A way to keep kids motivated to play sports is to keep it fun and encouraging. As a kid, I played many sports. My main sport was softball, and I started to play travel in second grade. It wasn't a true travel team, as it was more about having fun and teaching the correct mechanics. The picture above is of me playing softball in elementary school.

For middle childhood cognitive development, I'm going to focus on language. By this age, you should have intonation, vocabulary variety, grammar mastery, and social skills with developed pragmatics. This is also the age when you start to see the benefits of introducing another language at a young age. Two benefits of introducing two languages at a young age are memory skills and metalinguistic awareness. The picture above is of me during my middle childhood age. I didn't have language deficits, but I had speech deficits. I only made the middle sound of words. I created my own sign language, and my family would interpret for me to others between my sounds and sign language.

For middle childhood social development, I'm going to focus on friendships and popularity. At this age, people start to develop friendships with more popular people and tend to have more friends. Kids with fewer friends tend to be friends with kids who have fewer friends. At this age, you find friends who have things in common with you, like what sports you play, your personality type, and your favorite things. The picture above is of me at a softball practice on Twin Day. I matched with one of my friends for that practice.
