There are the extremes in art where I personally think it is a bit too far out there, but to each their own. Art helped me learn how to get over obstacles, and it still teaches me how to move on from mistakes or how to work with mistakes. Art is a way of life, and everyone is different. Do not fret that you feel you are behind on drawing or painting, keep practicing, take breaks from projects, and most importantly, breathe. In the end, you will be the artist you have always strived to be.

I want them to understand that Creativity is not a static thing. It is alive, and it grows as you do. A person is not just born creative. It takes time, effort, patience, and experience. It requires you to experiment and learn, which in turn requires you to make mistakes.
It asks you to look through someone else's eyes, to think outside the box of what you're used to.
I'd like them to understand that to be creative is to take an idea, any idea, and to make something new out of it. Not to copy it, but to build on it, change it.

I'd also like them to know that all of these things are skills, and all art forms are skills, and as such can be learned. They take real work to become good at them, and you shouldn't be afraid of the fact that someone else is better.

I think the biggest thing that I personally struggle with is realizing that there is NO wrong way to make art. Whether you need a reference or work from your imagination or if a piece takes a year versus a day. There is no wrong way to go about it and I think not realizing this or being stressed this fact can deter a lot of students so I think this is something that needs to be emphasized even more.

I think this is very much true, when I first started out I thought I needed t have all of the fancy expensive materials to create good art. Now, several years later I try to buy the highest quality for the smallest amount of money. Being frugal pays off ha.
