Internet Marketing and B2C Electronic Retailing

•Electronic retailing(e-tailing)
-Retailing conducted online, over the internet. This makes it easier for a manufacturer to sell directly to the customer, cutting out the intermediary.
•E-tailers
-Retailers who sell over the internet.
•Size and growth of the B2C market
Reported amounts of online sales deviate substantially based on how the numbers are derived, and thus it is often difficult to obtain a consistent and coherent picture of the growth of EC. Some of the variation stems from the use of different definitions and classification of EC. Another issue is how the items for sale are categorized. Some sources combine certain products and services; others do not. Some sources include online travel sales in the data for EC retail. Sometimes different time periods are used in the measurement.
•What Sells Well on the internet
With approximately 170 million shoppers online in the US in 2010，e-tailers appreciate the need to provide excellent choice and service to an ever-increasing cohort of potential customers.Hundreds of thousands of items are available on the Web from numerous vendors.
•Development in E-commerce
The first-generation e-commerce sold books, software, and music-simple to under-stand items that are easy to ship to consumers. The second wave of online growth started in 2000 as consumers moved beyond simple transaction to research and purchase more complex product online. Now in 2011, consumers are researching and purchasing online from categories like furniture, expensive jewelry, designer clothes, appliances, car, flooring, big-screen TV's, and building supplies. Consumer are buying many services as well.
