Salva is really responsible he a lot of more responsible then me for sure, he looked after an entire herd by the age of 11! The quote that I am going to use is about Salva going to school and how he had to take care of his brother and a herd, of cows.
For example"Before Salva had begun going to school, he had helped look after the entire herd, and his younger brother as well" (Park 3. This just proves it, he looked after a entire herd and his brother!

Salva is very fearless he can look down a guns barrel and be scared but still look at the person that holding the gun in the eyes.
For example,
"Hey!"

A soldier approached Salva and raised his gun.
Salva froze. All he could see was the gun's barrel, black and gleaming, as it moved towrds his face.
The end of the barrel touched his chin.
Salva felt his knees turn to water. He closed his eyes.
If I die now, I will never see my family again.
Somehow, this thought strengthened him enough to keep him from collapsing in terror.
He took a deep breath and opened his eyes" (Park 11).
This quote explains my reasoning it explains that he literally looked down the barrel of the gun and look the person in their eyes.

Salva had to walk a half an hour to get to his house from school. That is simply amazing! The quote that I am about to show explains my reasoning.
For example"Salva was well aware of how lucky he was to be able to go to school. He could not attend the entire year, because during the dry season his family moved away from their village. But during the rainy season, he could walk to the school, which was only half an hour from his home "(Park 2). This proves it, I have to walk a half an hour to and you have to be really active to walk that far.

Salva has a lot of brothers so it doesn't really surprise me that they play tough with each other. The quote that I am using is about him challenging his brothers. For example, "The boys would challenge each other to see who could make the most and best cows" (Park 3). This just explains my reasoning, they would constantly challenging each other.

The quote that I am about to show explains that she must be very tough.
For example "She looked at the bottom of her foot. There it was, a big thorn that had broken off right in the middle of her heel. Nya pushed at the skin around the thorn. Then she picked up another thorn and used it to poke and prod at the first one. She pressed her lips together against the pain (Park 8). This would be very painful, think about a giant thorn in your foot I can guarantee some of you would cry.

The quote that I am about to show, shows that she has to walk eight hours alone.
For example "It would take her half the morning if she didn't stop on the way. Heat. Time. And thorns" (Park 1). This is really brave considering the heat ande the thorns, and simply walking for eight hours alone.

For example"Going was easy" (Park 1). If she is walking eight hours a day and saying going is easy shes probably very confident.

She is probably very graceful considering where they live they carry heavy things on their heads. The quote that I am about to show will show my reasoning.
For example "With the water balanced on her head, and her foot still sore from the thorn, Nya knew that going home would take longer than coming had" (Park 15). This just proves that they must be very graceful, considering that there whole village carries their things on their heads, so they must be very graceful with or without things on their heads.

Something they both have in common was there struggle for water, Nya had to walk eight hours to get to her water source which might I add was a pond with the most muddy water ever. The quote I am about to show tells that they have water in common.
For example, "The dirt under her feet turned to mud, then sludge, until at last she was ankle-deep in water (Park 14)" This of course only shows that Nya had a struggle for water, but Salva also had a struggle for water too, when he was walking from refugee camp to refugee camp he had to ration his water. The quote that I am about to show, shows this.
"The fierce heat sent up shimmering waves that made everything look wobbly. Or was he the one who was wobbling (Park 55)?" This is explaining that he probably is hot and maybe dehydrated, causing him to not know if he is wobbling or that everything else is wobbly.

There tribes are both different, Nya's is part of the Nuer tribe, while Salva is part of the Dinka tribe. The text sates that,
"That man, the boss of the workers," Dep said. "You know he is Dinka?" Nya looked at Dep in astonishment. The Dinka and the Nuer did not look very different physically. You had to look at the scar patterns on people's faces to tell tribes apart-Dinka scar patterns were different from those of Nuer" (Park 114). In this it means that they both have diffent tribes, Nya is in the Nuer tribe will the boss, is Dinka which surprisingly is Salva. So this just proves that they both belong in different tribes.
