In his essay, Gramsci distinguishes between "traditional" intellectuals coming for the bourgeoisie and "organic" intellectuals arising out of the working class. He argues that all men are intellectuals by virtue of their capacity to think, as "[e]ach man [...] carries on some form of
intellectual activity," (p. 9) but that it is necessary to do a concrete historical analysis of the different kinds of intellectuals and different grades of intellectual activity.

In his essay, Gramsci states that the ecclesiastics are "organic" intellectuals. Moreover, this category was widely known for its independence and self-confidence. As the author said that "the intellectuals think of themselves […] as endowed with a character of their own..." (Gramsci, 8). These traits contribute to the developing of a perfect character or personality isolated from the others. I argue that the ecclesiastics are also "traditional" intellectuals since they affect the society, they live in, with their traditional activities.

In this text, Gramsci states that the process of defining what a real intellectual is somehow complex. Several forms of them appeared throughout time; in which one is different than the other in some aspects. So he says, " [t]he problem is a complex one, because of the variety of forms assumed to date by the real historical process of formation of the different categories of intellectuals" (Gramsci,5).

In this text, I argue that Gramsci states all men as intellectuals though not all of them have the real social function of intellectuals. The need for working-class culture made him call for a certain type of education in order to develop.

In his essay, Gramsci states that intellectuals of the rural type are traditional, because they are connected to the social mass of country people and the
town. Furthermore, in the countryside, the intellectual has, on the whole, a higher or different living standard from that of the medium peasant. Thus, consequently represents a social model for the peasant to look to in his aspiration to escape from or improve his condition. He claim that the peasant's attitude towards the intellectual appears contradictory; He respects the social position of the intel-
lectures of state employees, but sometimes affects disrespect for it.(Gramsci,14)

In Antonio Gramsci's essay, "The Intellectuals", he asserts that no class is without their own intellectuals; furthermore, a strategy in a dominated group's political struggle is for its own organic intellectuals to confront the dominant group's traditional intellectuals. He highlights this thought with saying: "[o]ne of the most important characteristics of any group that is developing towards dominance is its struggle to assimilate and to conquer "ideologically" the traditional intellectual, but this assimilation and conquest is made quicker and more efficacious the more the group in question succeeds in simultaneously elaborating its own organic intellectuals." (Gramsci, 10)
____
Personal claim:
I argue that this proposes a challenge to the status quo because it implies there is consciousness from one group to oppose the other and perhaps even challenge their authority. Hegemony is a temporary state with an inevitable fall, especially when the subservient have their own intellectuals willing to confront the dominant.

This type of intellectual
brings into contact the peasant masses with the local and
state administration (lawyers, notaries, etc.) ." (Gramsci, 14).

In his essay, Gramsci analysed the role of intellectuals in society. He claimed that all men are intellectuals. But not all of them have the social function of intellectuals. This claim can be best demonstrated in the following passage," All men are intellectuals, one could therefore say : but not all men have in society the function of intellectuals." (Gramsci, 9).
I'd argue that an intellectual person is anyone who engages in critical thinking and is able to reflect about the reality of his society. he also should always be guided by his intellect, rather than by his emotions or experience.
