The fact that the artefacts are existing in an another country is the byproduct of an unfair past. A artefact sitting in a foreign country’s museum is the result of past theft from a country. This artefact that was taken could have some special spiritual significance or cultural significance to that country. Once the people notice that an artefact belonging to their country’s past sits in another country’s museum, they will feel strongly about it because they feel like it is a part of their culture. No matter how long or how well the other country keeps the artefact, it doesn’t change the fact that they stole it and it is not part of their culture. Although this may be a little unfair to the country where the thieves are from, since present day people shouldn’t have to pay for their ancestors’ faults, but there is also no compensation to the countries who had their artefacts stolen and possibly damaged from the theft. In the least, the country the artefact was taken from should have the right to decide how to deal with the artefact (where to keep it, etc).
