This text read in class brought me to live the experiences of the four soldiers in firsthand, as I've been  catapulted in that age. I've understood how war could psychologically 'kill' a man, messing everything up. I've seen the different ways of thinking of the four soldiers, who wanted the war to end and who wanted to go ahead, fight and win. I've understood how brief life is and how it can change all of a sudden. The author, from the beginning to the end of this text, through his experience in war world I, wants to emphasise the horror and terror that soldiers experienced in the trenches. The new invention of chemical gasses and shells were the 'ruins' of most of the soldiers. The death of a friend was ordinary and a trauma. This is what I have learnt. Dying for your own country isn't sweet, it's the opposite thing, it's a tragedy... something that will always influence your life !

I've lernt how World War I had overturned men's life. 
Man became a machine that lived his life, but was spiritually dead. His actions were mechanical. A beautiful season as Spring that should seem perfect, is preferred and substituted by man with a season as winter in which is habit to sleep and stay at home. She is one of the representatives of the modernism in literature, and her way to compose a text is completely new.  Hard experiences of life, bring Virginia to an other 'level' of comprention and view of life. With her the traditional narrative tecnique is abolished, there is no plot, time is compressed so there is no traditional treatment of it, there is a multiple point of view stressed also with the literary tecnique of the free indirect speech and the places described in her writings are real.  Man's mental experience and his complex conciousness became the 'protagonists' of the stories.

This writer was able to give step by step a different view of his town, that in  specific writings it becomes like a maze. As V.Woolf he was able to give voice to the thoughts of the characters and mixing them with the external world as we can see in "Eveline" (from J.Joyce' Dubliners) or "The Funeral" (from "Ulysses").

First of all his father was a miner and he had problems related to the alcohol and moreover his brother prematurely died. Because of this loss he became the main point of reference of his mother and the novel "Sons and Lovers" describes the relationship between them. The 'protagonist' of the novel is the Oedipus Complex that derives from the Oedipus Rex's tragedy. Another aspect that is haighlighted are relationships. Black Music was really spread as Jazz but also gospel related to religion . The cutton club was the main club in the area in which were acted different kind of shows from tip-tap to jazz.
