At the end of his two terms in office, Ronald Reagan viewed with satisfaction
the achievements of his innovative program known as the Reagan Revolution, which
aimed to reinvigorate the American people and reduce their reliance upon
Government. He felt he had fulfilled his campaign pledge of 1980 to restore "the
great, confident roar of American progress and growth and optimism."

1. How did you handle the Iranian hostage situation while coming into office? I didn't really have to do much the hostages were going to be let free no matter who took over as president as long as it wasn't Carter.

2. How did the assassination attempt affect the rest of your presidency? It didn't effect the way I ran the country as president but it did change the way the secret service guarded the president, it prompted the change of insanity laws as a criminal defense, and it advanced the national debate on gun control.

3. What were your expectations when signing the social security reform bill? well, this bill demonstrates for all time our nation's ironclad commitment to Social Security. It assures the elderly that America will always keep the promises made in troubled times a half a century ago. It assures those who are still working that they, too, have a pact with the future. From this day forward, they have one pledge that they will get their fair share of benefits when they retire

4. What were your major goals to get accomplished by getting the Berlin Wall removed? to end the division of east and west Germany and to bring peace to this country - tsking away the major symbol of the cold war and its reprecussions

5. Why did you not get approval from congress before sending troops in to invade Grenada?

As commander in chief I needed to ensure the protection of the countries and citizens. Before sending troops I did inform congress about the invasion. The mission to invade Grenada was to stop communist countries from using this location to supply communist groups in central America, to ensure the containment of communism I found it vital to partake in the invasion of Grenada.

During the campaign of 1980, Ronald Reagan announced a recipe to fix the nation's economic mess. He claimed an undue tax burden, excessive government regulation, and massive social spending programs hampered growth. Reagan proposed a phased 30% tax cut for the first three years of his Presidency. The bulk of the cut would be concentrated at the upper income levels. The economic theory behind the wisdom of such a plan was called supply-side or trickle-down economics.
