This poem talks about a young person, who has to work to provide for themselves. The work ethic of this person shows their self-reliance through getting up everyday and working for his own betterment. With all of this pain and suffering that this person has to endure in her daily labor, she continues to fight, even if it is just for a few cents a day. The worker decides to not quit and remains strong just in order to make a life for themselves and those they need to support. The worker is continuing to be independent and is relying on their will and drive to keep moving on.

And it also talks about how the family has no time to mourn but instead has to go back to work the next day. The Just part of this is the author saying that more people should care about the poor man, rather than the rich man.
