At the University of North Carolina, Jordan won the National Championship in 1982, and was name NCAA player of the year in 1984. Following his collegiate career, Jordan was the 3rd overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft, selected by the Chicago Bulls. Jordan went on to play 12 seasons with the Bulls, collecting dozens of awards and accomplishments along the way, most notably his 5 league MVP awards, 6 NBA Championships, and 6 Finals MVP's. 

Jordan's playing career greatly influenced the popularity of the NBA both in the US and in the world, creating a much larger market for the sport. This movie has influenced our modern world because i feel that it encourages creativity and an open mind of things. During the movie they came across a man with lots of physical and mental disorders and they kept with him and protected him from the people who kept him in chains. I know this movie influenced me to be open to all and that adventure can be fun.

Debuting in 1985, the movie is about the 17 year old Marty McFly getting caught up in friend Doc Brown's haywire experiment which takes him back to the 1950's, specifically, Marty's dad's prom week of his senior year in Highschool. Marty's mission becomes making sure his mom falls back in love with his father (after she falls in love with Marty himself) so that Marty can be born and isn't erased from time all together. The movie ended up only winning itself six academy awards, the best of which were: "People Choice Award for Favorite Movie," and the "Academy Award for Best Sounding Editing."
Back to the Future influenced our modern world by partially establishing the cinema's rules for Time travel. Though the movie was far from the first movies that touched on the idea of Time travel, most if not all of the time travel movies proceeding 1985 follow the rules that this movie founded. While there were several variations on the idea of the personal computer pre-1980s, including the Apple II, it was IBM that coined the term when it released the IBM 5150 on 12 August 1981. This is not to undermine the gargantuan effect that computers like the Commodore PET and the Apple II had upon the history of personal computing, but it was IBM's long-established reputation that worked in its favour.

Slapping the title of Personal Computer onto the 5150, IBM took the PC out of niche and into mainstream.

The IBM 5150 had a 16-bit 8088 processor running at 4.77MHz, 16KB memory that was expandable to 256k, floppy disk drives, two RS-232 serial interfaces, and an optional colour monitor. The ROM had BASIC built-in and ran DOS 1.0, the operating system that brought us Microsoft. By the time the 80s had drawn to a close we'd seen the Macintosh, hard disks, Windows and, the next in our list, CDs

Popular colors for men were black, tans, oranges, forest greens, white, and indigo. Many buttons up and V-necks. Looser pants were popular during this time.

Many people are still influenced by the 80's fashion to this day. It made a huge impacted on how people dress themselves today. I really enjoy the fashion of the 1980's. One of the most well-known was Blockbuster.  The first stores opened in 1985, and were immediately a big success. Blockbuster made access to entertainment a lot easier for everyone, as they could go in and rent any movie or game they wanted. Blockbuster unfortunately filed for bankruptcy in 2010, but it's effect on modern day entertainment can still be seen.

Today, we have services such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. We have access to entertainment from our homes, and we don't need to rent a physical disc. Netflix was originally an online DVD rental service, but today we can watch anything with a subscription.

A group of artists who altered pictures shown in the mass media. The pictures would, generally speaking, be from television, film, and advertising. These were featured in various styles being photography, film, video, and performance.

Neo-Expressionism:
A painting style that in characterized as expressive, gestural, and sometimes aggressive. It was seen as a break from the most prominent 1970's styles.

Street Art:
It isn't so much as a style of art as it is where the art is shown. There are varying style of street art, but they are all found in the streets. Normally trying to show or express something through art.

Neo-Pop:
This style of art mixes everything. From everyday objects to obscure luxury items with bright and bold colors. Andy Warhol himself explained that pop art is, “It's liking things.”

Art styles from every era effect today's art and culture. Weather it's just being inspired by a style of art, or a specific artist. Or the messaging behind the style or artist.

Some of the most famous musicals during this time were Phantom of the Opera, Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George, and Cats (All produced and composed by the amazing Andrew Lloyd Webber). These shows were the most popular during the time period, winning many Tony Awards. These shows really stepped up the Musicals on Broadway and really paved the path for modern musicals. Some of these 1980’s hits are still in adaption today, like how Phantom of The Opera is still the longest running show on Broadway, and how Into the Woods and Cats are now transformed into movie adaptations. Mario Lemieux is from Canada.  He is a professional ice hockey player. He played parts of 17 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1984 to 2006, assuming ownership in 1999.  I chose Mario Lemieux because my dad started enjoying the sport at the height of Mario's career.  Thus, he was always talking about how amazing he was to watch.

Women’s style consisted of silk blouses, pants, cartoon characters, and different prints. Fashion in the 80’s has evolved tremendously compared to fashion today. Now, we have more complex designs and patters, and more simple hairstyles that don’t involve a lot of hairspray. However, there are some similarities and trends that are making a comeback. The 80’s trends of bold blazers and denim jackets are all now fashion statements today and are incorporated in outfits.
