This quote simply tells us a teacher’s role in shaping children’s future. Teaching is not just an ordinary job nor the simplest job in the world. Rather, it is one of the challenging yet fulfilling jobs a person can have. Teachers are the backbone of society, they serve as role models for children, provide guidance and dedication, and empower young people through education. So when teachers love what they do, the children also love what they learn. When that happens, the society will have future leaders who value education and empower one another.

As I am preparing to become a teacher, I’ve come to realize that being a teacher is being able to know how to act with honesty and integrity with students, parents, and even in the community. Moreover, it is important for a teacher to know his/her rights to defend himself/herself when something bad happens.

For this semester, these are the three concepts that impacted me the most: (1) R.A. 7836 (2) B.P. BLG. 232 (3) R.A. 4670. These laws will aid and protect future teachers in their teaching journey. Besides this will help them to develop their full potential for them to proliferate learning to their students.

A teacher must know these laws in order for them to know their rights and roles. To begin with, the R.A. 7836 or also known as Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers is a guiding principle for teachers to follow at all times in order to demonstrate proper behavior in the community. As a future teacher, I must be competent, open-minded, and empathetic towards my students and to other people. In that way my students will have a positive learning environment and for them to actively participate in community engagements. Furthermore, the B.P. BLG. 232 otherwise known as Education Act of 1982 that covers the rights of students, parents, teachers and school administrators. Now that I am preparing myself to become one, my role is to provide my students with knowledge and inform them of their rights in school. But how can other teachers be effective in their career, if even for themselves, they don’t know how to protect and defend their rights. That is why, it is customary for future teachers to study the B.P. BLG. 232 not just to know the rights of students but also to know their rights in order to defend themselves when something bad will happen. Continuously, the R.A. 4670 or also called the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers. This will allow teachers to have academic freedom in carrying out their duties related to teaching and classroom practices. Overall, these laws allow me to recognize my role as a future teacher in school and in the community for me to be proficient in my chosen field.

As I embark on my teaching journey. I offer this acronym poem to future teachers.

T - Transforming lives by

E - Educating learners to be

A - Attentive, responsible, and

C - Capable of

H – Honing one’s skills in

I – Improving their knowledge that will

N – Nurture individual development and

G – Guiding them to pursue academic excellence

P – Prepare the learners on their

R – Roles in school and

O – Onto society that will

F – Flourish their abilities to

E – Ensure that they reach their goals,

S – Serve the country with compassion and

S – Sincerity at all times, and

I – Impose good-values

O – On learners while

N – Nurturing with a helping hand that will mold them to be academic driven individuals

My journey as a future teacher has its ups and downs. For the past months, I learned that choosing this profession will require intensive preparation. Thankfully with the guidance of our dearest Professor Erwin Corales, we managed to survive this semester. I just wanted to say thank you for being you and for sharing with us your wisdom and knowledge on this subject. I will never forget your effective ways of teaching which deeply inspired me to apply once I become a licensed professional teacher. I hope that you continue to inspire future Normalites on their teaching journey. I wish you all the best in life, sir.

Once again, thank you and advance Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Sir!

“Provide FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, aid PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS to advance.”
