In 1997 he was allowed to go on an unguarded holiday. On that holiday he went to Finland and robbed Hotel Palace in Helsinki. As he was escaping from the hotel he shot and killed two police officers. On trial at the Helsinki district court, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and he is serving the sentence at the Danish prison. He was also sentenced to pay almost 47 000 euros to families of the police officers.
