 It is the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (also called “The Lady in Gold” or “The Woman in Gold”), completed between 1903 and 1907. The portrait was commissioned by the sitter's husband, Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, a Jewish banker and sugar producer. The painting was stolen by the Nazis in 1941 and displayed at the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere. In 2006, following eight years of effort by the Bloch-Bauer heirs, the painting was returned to the family; it was sold the same year for $135 million, at the time a record price for a painting. 
First I got to know about this picture after I had seen the British film about it, "Woman in Gold", 2015. I was really impressed and read about the picture and about the artist. It's my favourite picture since then.

I think, it is the most famous picture in the world. It is a wonderful portrait of a young woman from Florence. It took Leonardo some years to paint it. Mona Lisa looks at you and smiles, and there is a mystery in her smile. 
I wanted to go to Paris since I was a little girl, my mum told me about it. Last year I went to Paris with my parents. We visited the Louvre, and I saw the famous picture. It appeared to be smaller than I used to think. But I was happy!

It was designed by one of the most famous and talented artists, sculptors and architects ever, Michelangelo. It took many years to complete the building, and Michelangelo lived to be present when the first level of the dome was put. Then he died, but the cathedral was finished just like he wanted it. I was in Rome with my class.
