Adolescents seem to be masters of code-switching between their academic personalities, their home lives, and the way they act with friends they appear to have different faces/masks to wear for every occasion. This plays a huge role in how adolescents develop their social interactions and the way they interact with different people in different situations.

My students seem to be looking for a lot of advice about their perspectives on life, I think a lot of adults outside their family don't offer them very much guidance in non-academic arenas

I believe the concept of emerging adulthood is not a ground breaking discovery of a new transitional period. Much of the implications and conclusions from the Arnett piece were ill supported and were based on assumptions without meaningful context. Such the magical disappearance of mental health and the taking on of responsibility just happening as folks age. I believe this idea of emerging adulthood is more of a sociological result not psychological as shifts in economy and society have created a rumination period for young adults.

I do agree with this reframing, as many "adult" decisions are pushed off so high school students do not need to make as many life-determining decisions.

I do agree with this decision because of the idea that adulthood was about the group of 18-40 year olds and there are drastic differences between these groups.

Yes I agree, because the phases in which we do things and reach certain accomplishments/decisions happen during specific times (generally). I think there should be more research though.

yes. I agree with the author that times have changed, people are no longer settling down and "starting adulthood" right after graduation. ages 18-25 are a hard time and I feel a lot of growing/development happens at theses ages and therefore, it should be its own stage
