If a slave had a baby and couldn't support her kid then the Freedman's Bureau would help hger give it food and clothing and doctor visits when he/she was sick. The reconstruction was a success because by the end of the era African Americans had a lot more rights than they had previously had. African Americans could now vote, have normal jobs, have a family, attend school and much more. They weren’t allowed to do or have any of that before the 14th and 15th amendment. Hiram Revels was in the first African American senator. That showed that African Americans and whites were slowing starting to become more equal. I feel the reconstruction was a
