Particular attention will be given to the participation of women and youth.
 Objective - The objective of the Project is to improve access and integration of smallholder livestock farmers with remunerative markets for their products, leading to improved and equitable returns

Armenia is a land-locked Republic in the Southern Caucasus, bordered by Turkey, Iran, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. It’s mainly mountainous territory covers an area of 29 800 km2 that is administratively divided into 11 regions, including the capital Yerevan and 915 communities of which 49 are urban and 866 are rural communities. About 40% of the country is not suitable for agriculture. The area suitable for agriculture comprises 1.39 million hectares of which 35% is arable agricultural land and very dependent on irrigation. The remainder is grasslands and pastures and perennial plantations.
The Government of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development has initiated a successive joint programme to support strengthening of rural infrastructure and rural finance in the Republic of Armenia. The Government of Armenia acknowledged that agriculture and rural development plays a key role in economic diversification, job creation, and poverty reduction. In this context International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is financing the Infrastructure and Rural Finance Support Programme (IRFSP) to assist the Government to resolve the widespread occurrence of poverty in the rural areas. Its overall objective is to improve the economic and social status of the population in selected rural areas.

It will be implemented in the period March 2017-March 2022 in the territory of Republic of Srpska (one of entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina).
The Program targets poor, non-commercial farmers who are not (or not sufficiently) connected to the market, by enabling their inclusion in prosperous value chains to become competitive commercial producers. Direct beneficiaries are the rural poor, both women and men, young and adults, organized into producer associations and cooperatives active in selected value chains (fruit, vegetables, secondary forest products, and bee products ).
The development objective of the program is to provide small farmers and other poor categories in rural areas with the opportunities offered by the development of the subsectors of fruits, vegetables, secondary forest products and other potential branches of agriculture for the sustainable improvement of their socio-economic status.
