In the lottery, there is absolutely no family support at the square while the lottery is going on. In the text, the children of Tessie were also stoning her along with all of the other villagers. In The Hunger Games, there is a lot of family support throughout the drawing of the names. In The Hunger Games, the lottery of the story is life or death. You don't automatically die if you are chosen to be a part of the games. On the other hand, In "The Lottery", the lottery is death. If you end up with the black dot on your paper, you are automatically going to be killed.
