As technology has improved, there has been an insurgence in the use of animation in advertising.

Animation is proven effective in most niches as it can provide a much lower cost option to traditional advertising and it is effective in engaging your audience as well as many other benefits. Live action can become very expensive as it tends to have a lot more scope for error and delays than animation, which only requires a few animators and voice actors to create a high quality end product.

Why?

Animation is generally fun to watch and creates a higher viewer engagement than traditional adverts.

Animation often involves humour or comedic aspects that keep the viewer entertained for longer and also invites sharing for bonus marketing potential.

Animation allows you to be a lot more creative as you can present almost anything in animation, you don’t have to stick to what is realistic or possible as you would with live action videos. Blending the fanciful in with your story is also a good way to capture viewer attention for longer.

Animation can capture the essence of your brand and express exactly what you are wanting your audience to understand about your product or service.

Advertising animation generally consists of short videos that communicate clearly and quickly and impart information in a creative way to be memorable .

Animation provides comic relief in most instances which makes it more interesting to viewers in general.

How is Animation used in Simulation?

Brief History:
Examples: The most common use of animation in simulation is army. This can be for ground troopers where the simulation is of a battlefield or for pilots to simulate in air situations.
Advantages and Disadvantages: With animation in simulations the army can save millions on fuel and bullets while also keeping the safety of the student in check. However the initial cost of the simulation software and the hardware to run it will come at a high upfront cost as well as the student might not take it seriously when in the simulation.

Animation can be used within creative art to transform a still image to an animation whilst still being considered as art.
An example of the use of animation within art is when an artist took Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night painting which is one of the most well known art works and turned it into an Animation.
https://media.giphy.com/media/qMq9qQk08nhAY/giphy.gif
Using animation in art also allows an artist to portray moods such as http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/02_03/newspaper.gif where this man's surrounding is still whilst he's still moving flipping pages which portrays how focused he is to the newspaper.
Animated gifs cannot be hung like traditional art on canvas.

How is animation used in education?

Brief history of how animation is used in education:

Advantages of animation in education:

Communication skills- The traditional pen and paper essay-writing format isn't for every student. Animation is a brilliant and innovative new way to encourage children to communicate stories, ideas and concepts in a creative and original way. It can be particularly useful as a tool to encourage the creativity of students who find spelling and grammar a challenge, because it liberates them from the anxiety of always worrying about technicalities and enables them to just concentrate on the story instead.

Building bridges- Thanks to the edtech expression creating animation is by no means a solitary pursuit. The process on many websites now involves sharing your creations with your peer group, whether within the classroom or further afield by making students movies visible to others using the same tool. This makes the animation visible for students all over the world who are using the same tool and it carries the benefit that a language barrier can be overcome through the benefit of animation

Self expression- For many students self expression can be a challenge but the beauty of animation is that ready-made characters can be placed onto pre-drawn environments while students still retain the creative everything from plots to speech bubbles.

Technical skills- While they are a range of fantastically simple animation tools available for younger children, it can also be a greater gateway for older students to learn more technical skills too. It allows students to use algebraic and calculus functions for example to create 3D animations and it teaches them a range of computer skills
