The disability rights movement is a global social movement that seeks to secure equal opportunities and equal rights for all people with disabilities. The movement goals was to combat the oppressive marginalization of persons with disabilities. It also sought to empower them to take control of their own lives and to influence social policies and practices to further the inclusion of individuals with disabilities into day to day society.

I can pin point a certain area because they urged all over the country to include people with disabilities in school, work, and just life in general. They were often shut out of public life, denied educational and economic opportunities, and seen as less capable than people without disabilities. This should include any key legislation, court cases, etc. bm5s7r6978 https://padlet.com/bm5s7r6978/sqcv8b2tzqmepbln/wish/2459608074 It seems like they accepted some parts of it, but since it’s been going on since the 1800s it seems it took to long for the federal government to get interested in solving and helping the movement out. Although after decades of campaigning and lobbying, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990, and ensured the equal treatment and equal access of people with disabilities to employment opportunities and to public accommodations. Recently the federal government has been ramping up things to include people with disabilities and this act is seen being required all over the United States. Even the Supreme Court had been ruling in favor for disabled people as seen in PARC v Pennsylvania (1971)
Mills v. Board of Education of District of Columbia (1972) O'Connor v. Donaldson (Young berg v. Romeo (1982). States has also included the ADA in work and school settings.

All over the world there are things like ramps, elevators, wheelchairs for people, motor wheelchairs, and many more things put in place for disabled people. This is just in society, but many things have change in work and school settings where things like disabilities don’t matter and won’t make something less applicable for a job.
