To start off, it would be the MERS Virus Situation. They give people the overview of the Virus , giving detailed information such as providing stats of the MERS Virus and warning people what they should take note of. For example; Source A says , "Travellers to Middle East countries should avoid visiting farms, markets, barns, or other places where dromedary camels are present. Traveller should avoid contact with sick animals" and "Approximately 80% of human cases have been reported by Saudi Arabia. What we know is that people get infected there through contact with infected dromedary camels or infected people."
Telling travellers about the dangers of Mers Virus would prevent the spread of the disease and people would be safer.

The government has built the Terminal 4 of Changi Airport which attracts a lot of tourists with its good facilities and infrastructures. For example, the beautiful, aesthetically pleasing infrastructure "The Central Galleria" which attracts the tourists' eyes. Good facilities such as the "Alluring Transit Longue" and the "Relaxing Green Sanctuaries" which allows tourists to be able to relax and have a good experience in Singapore. This would then make them be attracted to Singapore's facilities and infrastructure that they would recommend to their friends and family, increasing the influence of the number of tourist in Singapore.
There are also local events organized by Singapore Tourism Board(STB) For instance, "Christmas on A Great Street" at Orchard Road and "Anime Festival Asia". This would bring about more tourists to Singapore to participate in these events, and also have good value in airfares and hotel rates. As Singapore is strengthening as a MICE destination, visitors spend more on accomodation and their shopping in malls. There are also attractions like the "Digital Light Canvas" at Marina Bay Sands which gains lots of tourists visit there.
Hence the government plays an important role as they're capable of resorting in different methods to attract more tourists, resulting in the increasing numbers of tourist recipes
