Chapter 3: The Problem

To begin with, in chapter 3, Holmes asks for more details about the mysterious case of Sir Charles Baskerville. However, he is bothered that he hasn’t been there to look at the scene of the death. Apart from that, Dr Mortimer doesn’t think a detective can solve supernatural matters. He says that he wants information about Sir Henry, who normally lives in Canada. Moreover, Sir Henry docent know about what Hugo Baskerville has done in the past, or the curse that he has apparently put on his descendants. Furthermore, Holmes wants Sir Henry to stay in Baskerville Hall. Later on, Holmes infers that Sir Charles saw something that frightened him so much that he ran away, before his heart stopped. On the other hand, they still need to find out why Sir Charles was waiting alone, outside, particularly since he was scared of the moors.

Chapter 4: Sir Henry Baskerville

First of all, in chapter four, Dr Mortimer shows up with Sir Henry Baskerville. We learn that Sir Henry is a good – looking man. Moreover, he is pleased to meet Holmes because he has received an anonymous note written with words that were cut out of the newspaper “Times”, which said that he had to keep away from the moor. In addition, Sir Henry reports that one of his brown shoes has disappeared. Unfortunately, Holmes cannot think of anyone who would steal one boot so he deduces that it will appear again. Later on, Holmes and Watson follow him distantly. Furthermore, they see that a thick bearded man pursues Sir Henry in a cab. Since the strange man is escaping, Holmes comes up with another plan: he pays a messenger boy to visit the major hotels of London and to go through the bins to find the Times of the previous day, with the words cut out of it.

Chapter 5: Three Broken Threads

Firstly, in chapter 5, Holmes and Watson come to Sir Henry’s hotel. Unfortunately, Sir Henry is upset because someone stole for the second time one of his boots, a black one this time. He thinks that this lost is not important, unlike Holmes who takes it very seriously. As a result, Holmes asks him if he knows someone with a thick black beard. Sir Henry says that Barrymore, the butler of Baskerville Hall could be that person. Later on, Holmes and Watson learn that Barrymore and his wife received money from Sir Charles’ will, as well as Dr Mortimer and individuals or public charities. The rest of Sir Charles’ estate, which is very high, all went to Sir Henry. Moreover, they learn that the heir of Sir Henry, if he strangely dies of course, would be James Desmond, a distant cousin who is a clergyman, and not interested at all in Sir Charles’ money. In addition to this, Holmes says that Sir Henry mustn’t stay alone in Baskerville Hall because it’s too dangerous. Unluckily, he cannot be the one staying with him because he has work to do in London, so he asks Dr Watson to do it. Later, after their lunch, Sir Henry discovers his missing brown boot under a cabinet. Afterwards, Holmes confirms that Barrymore can’t be the thick and black bearded man that followed Sir Henry, because he didn’t leave Baskerville Hall. Furthermore, he receives a telegram from the messenger boy, who didn’t find anything about the Times in the trash. Consequently, Holmes uses the cab number that he noted, to find the man who drove the bearded spy after Sir Henry. When he finds the driver, he says that the thick bearded man was a detective named Sherlock Holmes. The man paid the driver a lot of money to follow Sir Henry and Dr Mortimer. After that “story time”, the real Holmes gives the driver some money and then realises that the spy must have recognized him when he and Watson followed Sir Henry.

Chapter 6: Baskerville Hall

First, in chapter 6, Holmes brings Watson to the train station, to go to Baskerville Hall. Moreover, he wants Watson to send him facts about Sir Henry’s neighbours. He also gives him a list of his suspects who are Barrymore and his wife, Dr. Mortimer himself, Mortimer's wife, Stapleton the naturalist and his sister, and Mr Frankland. Finally, Dr Mortimer, Watson and Sir Henry take the train. When they arrive, they see soldiers watching the road to Sir Henry’s property. The driver explains that a prisoner, Selden the Notting Hill murderer, has escaped on the moors. Afterward, Barrymore welcomes Sir Henry. Before eating their dinner, Barrymore proposes that Sir Henry should hire a new staff of servants because he and his wife wish to leave because Sir Charles’ death made a shock and the surroundings are now painful to them, even though their family has served the Baskerville family for ages. Suddenly, before falling asleep, Watson hears the sob of a woman. He listens carefully for more. However, no more noise comes.

Chapter 12: Death on the Moor

First of all, in chapter 12, Holmes's surprises Watson while this one is searching for particulars in Selden's shelter. Secondly, Holmes tells Watson that Beryl is actually Stapleton's wife, and not his sister. Moreover, we learn that Stapleton is the thick bearded man that followed Sir Henry in London, and Beryl is the person who sent the warning note to Sir Henry. At this point p, Homes is ready to declare Stapleton as the murdeder, when suddenly they hear a terrible scream and the growling of a dog over the moors. Holmes fears that they may be too late. After this, Watson and Holmes find Sir Henry's body. However, while they go to carry him, they find out that it's actually Selden because the body has a beard. They remember that Sir Henry gave some of his clothes to Barrymore who probably gave them to Selden. Furthermore, since Stapleton trained his dog to react to Sir Henry's smell, it lead to attack Selden. Later on, someone walks towards them: it's Stapleton. When he sees that the dead body is not Sir henry, he turns pale. Subsequently, he claims that he invited Sir Henry to walk to Merripit House but he never showed up, so he got worried. At the end of this chapter, Holmes pretends that he wants to go back to London, since this case has not been "satisfying".

Chapter 13: Fixing the Nets

To begin with, in chapter 13, Watson and Holmes go back to Baskerville Hall. Moreover, Watson tells Barrymore that Selden is dead. Suddenly, Holmes looks at a portrait on Sir Henry's wall, a,d then points a man, who is Hugo Baskerville. Later on, after their dinner, Holmes brings Watson back to the portrait. At this point, Watson can notice that the face of Hugo Baskerville looks like Stapleton's. In other words, that would mean that Stapleton is a member of the Baskerville family. Later on, Sir Henry comes in and Homes tells him that that he and Watson plan to back to London. Sir Henry is disappointed because they were all supposed to eat dinner at Stapleton's but now Sir Henry has to go alone. Furthermore, Sir henry will tell his host, Stapleton, that he wants to walk home that night. Later, at the train station in Coombe Tracey, Holmes and Watson meet the messenger boy, who brought Holmes food when he was on the moors. Moreover, Holmes telles the boy to go back to London and then send a telegram to Sir Henry, asking for a pocketbook Holmes might have forgotten at Baskerville Hall. All This is to prove that they are really in London. In addition, the boy gives Holmes a telegram from a policeman, Lestrade, who's coming to Devonshire. Later, Holmes a,d Watson head over to Laura Lyons' house. There, she admits that Stapleton told her what to write in the letter to Sir Charles. After she agreed not to meet Sir Charles, she didn't hear anything about him until she read about his death in the newspaper. Then, Stapleton frightened her into not saying anything bout their appointment. At the end of the chapter, Holmes and Watson go to the train station to meet Lestrade.
