The rosy red and rusty brown hues I added with oil pastel into my composition shows how strong the love between us is! Brown and red shades symbolize everlasting love and it brought a warm, comforting tone to my composition. The city in the foreground that is seized by plants shows the growth of a new generation. The hand holding the mother and baby is fate or destiny. The mother is holding on to her baby even though fate is calling on her to let go. The dead brown plants below the mother symbolize her old age and the flourishing green plants below the baby symbolize youth. Hot air balloons are looming near the mother and baby, waiting for her to release the baby into the hot air balloons that will lift the baby to growth. My pencil shading skills have gotten stronger, and I can now draw objects of depth with all the practice we have done. My planning skills have also improved since we have done thumbnail sketches before every project. I have emerged into an artist the most significantly by improving common techniques, like pencil shading. I faced obstacles along the way with coming up with ideas for a project. For the growth project, I had an idea for acrylic paint, yet I couldn't carry out that idea. I learned how much planning time goes into an artist's work. From here and into the future, I want to continue painting and drawing at home for fun, yet I probably will not keep taking art at a high school or college level. I consider art more of a hobby or pastime, and not something I am meant to do in the future.
