         <description><![CDATA[<p>One rhetorical appeal that Patrick Henry used in his speech in “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” was a lot of pathos. Pathos is the appeal to emotion and in his speech, you can see a lot of that to convince the colonists to fight the British. The speech proves this with, “Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?” This shows how Patrick Henry is using pathos in his speech. He is trying to appeal to the colonist’s emotions by explaining the serious consequences and lack of freedom they will receive if they don’t fight the British for their freedom.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>One rhetorical appeal Henry used was when he mentioned the sirens that controlled the people. These “sirens” he’s referring to is probably the British since they control the citizens. Henry later says to fight back against them and to not feed in to anything their serving. This means in his speech he is saying to not listen to what the British say and to not trust them and to trust him instead since he has the “lamp” to where he is being guided which is the lamp of experience. Henry is trying to persuade the people by showing he has the experience and the smarts to help them and free them. Logos, ethos, and pathos are implemented in his speech by the way he is trying to use the emotions of the people and how he is trying to persuade them using logic and his trustworthiness.</p>]]></description>
