Kody has a very hard time staying focused on different activities for long periods of time. Within miniutes of starting math or reading he is talking to his friends and thinking about what his mom said she was making for dinner. He will now have a chance to earn breaks throughout work time. For every 10 minutes focused on work or paying attention he earns a 4 minute break to either get a drink, use the restroom, read a book or play with his farm animals.

Everyday Kody is sent home with a daily report card. This report card is not for "grading" Kody. This report is made to create behavior goals and provide Kody with immediate feeback on his goals and tangible rewards for achieving his goals. When creating this daily report card we decided Kody's goals would be to improve his focus in class, and complete classwork and homework. Rewards for these positive behaviors can range from getting a new farm animal to pizza for lunch or even time with his favorite person who happens to be our school principal!

Kody has his own schedule folder. He must participate in math, reading and writing activities with the class but other than those he may choose his schedule. Giving him the option to "choose" his own schedule makes him more engaged and wanting to pay attention in school activities!

Math:
- Kody will be provided a handout with clear step by step instructions on how to complete the assignment, He will be provided desk copies of math charts and tables to help compensate memory difficulties. Visuals are on the board for Kody to see as well as manipulatives such as counting blocks or even coins
- When testing Kody will have the math test broken up into 3 sections and take each section at a different time so he doesnt have to focus for the whole test at one time
Language Arts:
- Kody will read shorter stories than what is assigned to the class. He will have to read the short story and do an activity or workshort to better understand or comprehend the reading material. Many times Kody reads a story and doesnt comprehend it because that requires quickly sounding out or recognizing words which can easily frustrate him and make him want to give up.
- Kody will be assessed with shorter stories and will have an option to have help with reading to ensure he is understanding and focused on what he is reading.
Social Studies:
- One big thing that will help Kody make connections to history and what he learned is real life experiences. This can be achieved through roll playing which will quickly engage the Kody and make him interested and he will leave remembering exactly what he learned in class today!
- Kody will have the option to choose his form of assessment. He is able to either role play, create an organizer or create music, rhythm, rhyme or rap.
Science:
- Kody really enjoys working alone on science experiments and turning science into real life! In class we do hands on activities every day. Some days we have short discussions about science which are group discussions where all students have a chance to share. We have encorporated many science activities about farm animals to really engage Kody!
- Kody is allowed to complete a hands on science experiment as a test or assessment grade. He isnt required to do a paper test.
